He still won't win anything with a defense in the NFL

He was perfect in the 4th Q and played the position as well as it is possible to play. Haters will hate regardless but he is a stud and just won his first playoff game in his 2nd season and 1st year with Ben Johnson.

The cock gobbling for a guy who misses routine passes and can’t complete more than 50% of his passes in a home playoff game is borderline insane

31 points and a W matters more than your completion percentage. Caleb is your daddy.

I truly have no idea what to think about Caleb.
Cons:
1) He’s pretty much complete arse through the first 3 quarters of most games.
2) He routinely misses layups, and is generally not accurate with ball placement. His completion percentage is very poor, and other metrics like QBR and ANY/A are pretty meh.
3a) He’s the beneficiary of being under the tutelage of an offensive guru (Ben Johnson).
3b) He’s the beneficiary of the Bears investing a TON into offense recently. For as inept as Trubisky/Fields were at times, they had nowhere near the weapons Williams does. Fields got one year of DJ Moore (the best year of his career was with Fields) and a rookie Darnell Wright, but since then, Wright emerged into an All-Pro, the Bears drafted Odunze top-10, drafted Loveland top-15, used a 2nd-rounder on Burden, traded for all-pro Thuney, traded for Jonah Jackson, signed Dalman to a big deal, signed Swift, and found a late-round gem in Monagai. BUT…
Pros:
4) He does seem to thrive in clutch situations. Now, it’s largely his fault he has to come from behind so frequently, but he does come through more often than not in the clutch.
5) He still has extreme arm talent / playmaking / ability to make something out of nothing (hence why he was drafted #1), even if he’s often inaccurate.
6) His leadership seems fine, even if not elite, and his teammates generally seem to like/respect him.
Long story short… I don’t know. I kinda feel like the Bears need to win now (i.e., the next 2-3 seasons) because once they have to pay him, Wright, Odunze, Loveland, Burden, Monagai, etc., plus a guy like Thuney ages out and they don’t have the cap to re-sign Moore, I don’t think Caleb is good enough to carry a meh roster to the playoffs the way a guy like Allen just did, but we’ll see.
Regardless, they’d have been much better served trading down for Maye and adding an additional couple of first-round draft picks. Would probably be legitimate SB contenders this year with Maye plus another 2024 first-rounder and another 2025 first-rounder on the roster, instead of just winning the “Chicago Super Bowl” (beating a #7 seed GB sans Parsons in the playoffs).

A rare sane, logical post here and spot on. My wife is from Chicago and I am glad the Bears won. A big reason why some (but not all) LSU fans dislike Caleb has nothing to do with him and everything to do with the bizarrely antagonistic takes from some more vocal online Bears fans re: Jayden Daniels. Both guys can be good at the same time.
