So how did the first day open work out? Do you feel like it helped out at all for highland exit relief? Any accidents with the new cris cross?

This is the OT, we all have or need reductions.

The interstate ramps aren’t open yet so that would be a no. They should be real soon. Some LSP were at the lights. But it sure is nice being multiple lanes now. It’s actually 3 lanes for most of the way but the far right lane going north ends as a turn lane for the subdivision off to the right.

It's not finished. There are still lanes closed.

I can guarantee there will be accidents with people turning left out of Woodridge.
It was hard enough to do it with two lanes of traffic.
I don’t understand why they didn’t put a traffic circle there, or at least a light.

Pretty sure there's an access for that subdivision to get to the controlled intersection a little south of the entrance.

I have high hopes for when it opens. This was needed when Woman's was built, but better late than never. More options to scoot around this town are always a good thing, so bravo to BR for making some progress.

Good design. Will have a learning curve.
Hopefully St George can develop a white collar office park, some mixed use, and some light retail on the stretch and avoid a Siegen Lane style hellscape.

Somehow it became easier to turn when they created the new lane. I don't think it will be a big issue. The light at Reiger will stagger the cars enough to get across.

It never ceases to amaze me how long these projects take to complete.
And that interchange looks like a disaster in the making.

This is an insanely underrated post.

It's really not bad. Your eyeline isn't confused by switching over to the other side because it's not a big curve. If they have good signage, it really won't be an issue. Plus, I think the majority will be daily drivers.

It’s taken about 47 years to construct, it’s a EBR Parish project rather than a LADOTD project.

The on and off ramps aren’t opened yet. The news said those will be open in a few weeks.
It may alleviate some Highland exit traffic but Highland coming from Pecue will probably see more traffic. So kind of a moot point.

When we went to Lexington a few years ago for an LSU game, there were some diverging diamond interchanges there that I went through with no problem. That was around the time that this project was announced, and I remember thinking it would be a cluster until I went through the ones in KY. It's going to be nice. Probably not nearly the cluster of the double roundabouts that opened in Walker a few years ago.
