It’s got its place as a convenient resource at times sure but I’m just sick of it being shoved down our throats at every turn.

It’s over used and entirely unnecessary at many times. Not to mention it’s sparked an entire industry just to “make people’s lives easier”. In reality it’s just making people lazier and more dependent on technology rather than doing anything themselves. Let alone thinking for themselves. Also fact check it because I’ve seen on several instances it being entirely incorrect.

Not to sound like an old fart but man it’s bad and I’m not supporting it.

I’m a huge YouTube documentary watcher. And it’s taking over all the original channels content. Usually with some fake accent and a lame video montage of pictures that don’t even pertain the the subject. A cheater way to get clicks and free money for creators that do little work.
Same with TikTok videos.

"raises hand"

We do a type of risk evaluation for work, one of our venders has an AI program we are testing and has us all nervous about our futures.

I'm at year 13 and hope I don't have to hit the job market due to this.

It's definitely far, far overused. And we're only in what, like year 2 of AI?

Imagine 5 years from now. It'd be a rarity to see or hear actual humans.

The voices on those are terrible. You can tell immediately when a video has an AI voice because of its inflection on certain words and it makes the whole thing unwatchable. Awful.

Move into AI risk. It is inevitable that a third party or homegrown AI is going to expose some F1000’s sensitive data because some douchebag “vibe coder” doesn’t take risk into account. They just build something impressive and want to tell you about it on LinkedIn.

This will lead to strict regulation on AI and expand the risk job market.

The amount of people that just roll with it and accept it is insane too.

Pathetic sheep.

It’s acceptance in the work place has really started to irritate me

And according to some content providers YouTube is altering their videos (using AI) without their content. That their look, voices, backgrounds have been manipulated without their consent or their being informed. Which (2me) is a really dangerous slipper slope for them to have crossed.

It’s completely out of control and is ruining human worth and quality of living. What I would give to go back to the 90s…

My take is that it rolled out at the consumer level too quickly. Every tech company is invested and trying to earn revenue off of it but it’s not accurate enough to be relied upon. Its usefulness is often misplaced in a way that doesn’t add value.

One thing that amazes me is that with this technology, you can still make typos on your phone and text predict is shite.

Either way, as far as writing applications, most people can spot it (way too long of emails or weird spacing/punctuation/format) and don’t appreciate when it’s obviously been used. It now has a stigma in that regard.

You are correct. Many here are in complete denial.

Change and speed of change is going to be unlike anything ever experienced by humanity. There is no comparison that is even in the ballpark of what's coming.

The die is cast. We are too far down the road for any government or election to change it. It's in our future like tomorrow's sunrise.

We are in big trouble but try to have a nice day anyway.

Plus the amount of bad information is staggering. I fried a PC last week after trying to use a virtual window (as a third extended monitor) by bypassing an AVR with a 60hz limitation by using another HDMI in an effort to see if direct connect would allow still allow sound via E-ARC but get video passed directly to the virtual monitor at 120hz. Two different AI’s thought it was safe, sound (sic), and good to connect the PC-AVR-TV tihis way….

… however reliability was certainly not the strong point of either one. Ie: Buyer Beware.

Note: I HAD USED A VIRTUAL MONITOR BEFORE TO GET AROUND ANOTHER HARDWARE LIMITATION A FEW YEARS AGO. But for what ever reason it green screen fried the PC to the point that two different shops have deemed it better to cut my losses after trying to reinstall firmware on the motherboard.

It seems the free versions are becoming less intelligent.

I can only imagine the ones being fine tuned and having tons of resources poured in are probably incredibly useful.
