Kiffin and former players

Apologies if already discussed, but is how has Kiffin done in his other stops with wanting to have former players be part of the organization?
Has he typically been one to encourage former players back to school to build culture, spirit, mentoring, etc?
I would love to see major former players back on campus, practice fields, game days, etc.

Prior to his years at Ole Mrs there was no NIL and the portal was not open free agency. So, there is no way to compare his previous stints as a head coach to the current situation.
Thanks for your concern and lack of knowledge.

I think what you’re asking is, will Lane encourage former LSU legends to come back and attend practices and be part of the football culture? I think he absolutely should, and I believe he will.

Kiffin needs to develop a love for fishing and shrimping with a cast net with his son. He will lock down Louisiana till the end of time just posting picks of running crawfish traps and hoisting some trout every now and then.

Yes, this is exactly what I am asking. I would love to see this and do not know if Kiffin has a history of encouraging this at other schools.

IMO, Kiffin is FINALLY at a place he really wants to be long term. I think he got that opportunity early in his career at USC and then in the NFL but he wasn’t quite ready for it and had some personal demons to deal with. He’s spent the past 10 years making his way back to this moment.
The former players thing will be a function of time and his having developed the culture. As he builds it, they will come. And they will return.

I've never understood why this is even an issue for head coaches. Seems you would always want the past stars of your program around.
But it is constantly discussed and apparently some coaches do a poor job with this.

Some coaches are a bit tyrannical and insecure so don’t like any even potential outside influence in the locker room.

From talking to some former players, this was not something Kelly encouraged.
