Matt Moscona.

I hate Catholic because they have a different set of rules as everyone else.
Want to be “in district” is no problem, because you just need to be part of the diocese.
Let’s say there’s a kid that lives in Gonzales or Marepaus and goes to Catholic school for middle school. That kid is eligible immediately athletically at Catholic, but not at a school like Parkview.
It’s because of the “diocese”, which is bullshite.
So essentially, your eligibility is based on your religion.
frick that stupid shite.

It’s the same rule for everyone. It’s called the Same System rule. If you matriculate natural within a contained system, you are eligible.
A kid that goes from Woodlawn Middle to Baton Rouge High is also fully eligible because it’s within the contained system of the EBR school district. A kid from any AP middle school is eligible at any AP high school immediately for the same reason.
The rule is in place to recognize that the majority of schools in the LHSAA no longer use attendance zones for admission.
FWIW, there is a proposal on the docket this year that would make every 9th grader fully eligible when they initially enroll into an LHSAA school regardless of where they live or what middle school they attended.
That’s how it works in most states and it is long overdue here.

You don’t already do that?

No. We have been beholden to an archaic “attendance zone” system that hasn’t reflected the reality of high school admissions for some time.
But as more and more systems evolve to open enrollment, the better the chance that the LHSAA aligns itself with the rest of the country.

Mostly bc they (parents) think they are better than everyone bc they go there..
Not all, of course, as I know some who do not fit this bill…
It’s just the arrogance,
Then they brag how much better they are in sports, bc as a poster above said, any kid in any Catholic middle school in LA can go there and be instantly eligible

So far, I don’t think anybody understood the intent behind your original post

I’m not sure what the rule is now, but back in the day that was the rule for all the new New Orleans Catholic schools. If you started in middle school, you were immediately eligible in high school no matter where you came from.
If you started in ninth grade, then you had to sit out a year if you didn’t live in the “district“ (i.e. general area) of the school. In any event, you were always eligible to play middle school sports no matter where you lived. I saw this firsthand.

I’m sure they’re “CHS” for a lot of people here but that stops somewhere around LaPlace
Nothing against the actual school or Matt Moscona

Do you realize LHSAA changed that rule in 2023 ? Pretty sure it did not affect CHS much at all. Now it did hurt girls athletics and smaller team sports at smaller schools such as cross country, swimming, wrestling, tennis, and golf ... anyhow I have a sneaky suspicion you will have a new different reason to hate CHS.

1000%
You were referring to chalmette with your post
The lady that comment said you were incorrect because CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL doesn’t play that schedule
I didn’t see anyone in this thread address that. That was my point
