Michael J. Fox and Harrison Ford on Shrinking, Parkinson’s, and Donald Trump
Following his first TV role in five years, Fox hopes to meet with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about funding research for the incurable brain disease. But as he exclusively tells VF, the current administration “seems that they’re involved in other things that have less impact on peoples’ lives.”

Fox tells Vanity Fair. When asked for an update on working with President Donald Trump a year later, Fox retorts, “He’s busy with Greenland. More pressing concerns, I guess.”

I mean, securing Greenland could potentially save WAYYYYYY more lives.

Not hating on MJF here, but according to ChatGPT, he's raised over $2.5Billion for Parkinson's, his foundation alone.
Maybe if we cut out fraud and corruption, and spent the money raised, that could find a cure?

This is dumb. They know what causes, and how to cure most things. They aren't going to come out with any of that though because cure = no more money on treatments.

What is Foxx expecting? Is Trump supposed to be locked inside a laboratory looking through a microscope? Is POTUS supposed to give monthly press conferences on the progress being made on a so-far incurable disease?

I really like MJF... that said, his frustration that this isn't higher priority makes me want to ask him if he ever even thought about Parkinson's before it befell him... or if now, how much does he care about spina bifida or macular degeneration or diabetes.
I'm glad he's doing great fundraising and research- but while PD is a huge, central issue in his life- the life of an entire country is obviously going to have infinite "issues". Greenland isn't stealing his thunder.

Never ever cared for that slimeball Fox.

He’s such a disingenuous guy. He has spent years bitching about it being the current republican’s fault no cure has been found for Parkinson’s. Now you get this shite of he’d love to meet with the administration but they’re too busy with other shite. No Micheal, it’s you. You spend what little time and precious energy you have being a complete asswipe to republican administrations going all the way back to the GWB presidency and then whine because no one wants to deal with you. There’s thousands of other Parkinson’s advocates who are much easier to work with than your bitch arse. He’s no different than that prick Christopher Reeves who spent his remaining years bitter that he was stuck in a wheelchair because of republicans.

A little inside information here. There are currently 3 companies providing Parkinsons therapy through deep brain stimulation. This is a treatment that mitigates the uncontrollable movements that often accompany the affliction. This is treatment, not a cure.
The companies are:
Medtronic
Boston Scientific
St Judes
Fox has refused to engage in the treatment as he is committed to a cure. (Not banging on him, just stating facts)
By taking this stance he has deprived himself of the little things in life that we take for granted....getting dressed, brushing teeth, feeding yourself, combing your hair, drinking without spilling on yourself, walking without assistance.
Medtronic has provided for 25 years. He probably could have worked a little longer doing what he loved if he had participated while still fighting for a cure.
Seems a little short sighted to me.

I always liked Michael J. Fox, and I hate what he's had to go thru, but when it comes to politics he's just one more dummy who clings to the hive mentality which exists in his little Hollywood Bubble.

Back in the 60s Ed Sullivan had comic do a bit that would be very inappropriate today. The comic told about two guys duck hunting. One stuttered and one had the shakes (Parkinsons).
The stuttering guy: 'I-I-I-I'll sh-sh-shoot first.' BLAM! 'M-m-m-m-issed.'
Parkinson guy's gun was shaking: 'BLAM!' 5 ducks fall down.
Stuttering guy: 'N-n-n-no wonder. Y-y-y-you aimed all over the sky.'

First, and only take you should get from this is Michael J Fox is Canadian
They have always used the USA as their get rich quick scheme, and since Trump has exposed that, they are acting like infants. Trump has them by the balls, but they still want to appear superior to us
Look no farther than the Canadians fixing the qualifying games so that the US bobsledder getting shut out of the Olympics, to illustrate just how petty they currently are
This is just another example. Fox, the Canadian, thinking the US prez needs to stop all things American to fix his problem. How come MJF doesnt chastise the Canadian PM for working on other things (like a spiteful trade deal with China)?

Haven't had a chance to read the article, but does he talk about the support he received from the Obama & Biden administrations, and everything they did to help with his goal of obtaining more funding for the research for a cure?
Posted on 1/29/26 at 11:38 am to DarthRebel
How could MJF be so selfish? I think Donald should be solely focused on ALS research.
Seriously, though......in this area the responsibility of all leaders is to empower researchers (private and public) to continue viable research they are pursuing. The best way to do that is to simplify the grant/funding process and ensure the money is being wisely spent. Beyond that, it is just window dressing.

Has he called out his home country? Their answer is "Have you considered dying?"

Oh I LOVE these posts. Makes it clear who the imbeciles are.
Hint: cure =/= eradication.

Fantastic way to balance the budget works 100% of the time. Stop wasteful spending and eliminate graft and fraud. Stop writing checks to people who don't qualify for government assistance. Create a Dept of audit and pay the employees by a percentage of what they collect from stopping fraud and abuse. Place the thieves in Federal prison. Better yet send their arse to GITMO.

How much is Canada chipping in?
Since Fox is a Canadian National Treasure and the health care is so stellar.

They in fact do NOT know how to cure essentially anything including the common cold but they do know how to treat and prevent a lot of medical issues. The reality is most neurological diseases may not be curable
