Luigi Mangione will not face a possible death penalty sentence in the New York federal criminal case where he is charged with killing health insurance CEO Brian Thompson, a judge ruled Friday.
Manhattan U.S. District Court Judge Margaret Garnett dismissed two of the four criminal counts Mangione faced in the case.
The potential maximum sentence for the remaining two counts for causing Thompson’s death under federal stalking laws is “life in prison without parole,” Garnett noted.

so a premeditated murder of a high profile ceo wont get you the death penalty? if that doesnt then what does?

It's tragic that Brian Thompson wasn't given that kind of leniency.

No one thought, in a New York court, they were going to needle a leftist hero, right?

“causing” Thompson’s death.

If the communist revolution is successful, he will be released one day as a hero.

For the cost of two cases of honey buns and 10 cartons of Marlboros he can achieve the death penalty when he arrives to prison after being sentenced .

My guess is once he gets to prison he'll wish he had gotten the death penalty.

How many men and women will sign up to give him conjugal visits?

How can a judge, just on their own, decide to throw these two out?
I mean he either used a firearm or he didn't.
And it either had a silencer of it didn't.

The third count, which the judge tossed out, accused Mangione of the murder of Thompson through the use of a firearm during that alleged stalking, “is a capital-eligible offense,” the judge wrote.

The fourth count, which was also dismissed, accused Mangione of use of a firearm equipped with a silencer during the stalking.
I mean he either used a firearm or he didn't.
And it either had a silencer of it didn't.

I wouldn't be shocked if he is released from prison in the next five years.
This guy is a hero to progressives.

I agree
We live among insane people. Unfortunately that insanity has spilled into our legal system.

A life for a life is justice. Not receiving the death penalty for premeditated murder is an injustice.

I'm hearing reports that both the federal firearms charge and the federal murder charge were dismissed.
He also faces state charges but interesting enough New York charged him with SECOND DEGREE murder.

It would be second degree murder in Louisiana too.
