The kid has amazing stuff but can’t seem to figure out how to locate his pitches. I really think he needs to be in bullpen until he can figure it out.

He can’t help us unless he gets better command, but the guy is showing grest stuff and I think he can and will get better.

Not really.

He should get the Cam Johnson treatment with the control issues he's having.

Does he though?
The spin rate on a breaking ball doesn't matter if he can't control it.
He has a really good fastball, but a long way to go with the rest of his pitchmix.

That may be where he ends up, but this is a good time to give him some starts and see if he can work out the role of being a weekend starter. If it clicks for him early, then his stuff would be a weapon going into SEC play. If not, let him continue working mid week and out of the pen in SEC play like last year.

Only if we're up by more than 5 or 6 runs!

So far he’s a bust he has a lot of time to improve but I think it’s all in his head.

Good velocity, but at times it looks flat and very hittable.

Eh I could see him getting the shores treatment. Getting almost forced into starts early on to get him reps so that he's in prime form later in the season. He needs reps. He needs to get his shite together for sure but he needs reps to make that happen.

Surprised they haven't tried to smooth out his delivery. Very unnatural to me

His fastball would play up way more if he could locate any pitch. Most of his hard hits are when he’s already walked a guy and is down in the count. Everyone knows he’s throwing the fastball and he ends up aiming for the middle of the plate, because he HAS to throw a strike in those situations. For you to blow the pitch past people in those situations, you need more than mid 90’s

Yes he absolutely does, struggling with his command, won’t find it without pitching through it, at least have to let him try to get through it early in the season and then adjust as needed

Ben thinks so

Velocity and spin rate/movement are exactly what defines “good stuff”. Control is a separate characteristic.
