The Texas Rangers have reached a pre-agreement with 12-year-old Dominican prospect Andel Pérez for a $4.0 million signing bonus, per Wilber Sanchez ??

International prospects are not eligible to officially sign until age 16, making this an early and significant commitment by Texas. The $4 million is expected to be the largest bonus the organization allocates in its 2030 international class.

Reports indicate Pérez is already capable of handling 95–96 MPH velocity at the plate and throwing 88+ MPH across the infield.

Evaluators cite his physical tools and overall makeup, with some projecting he could reach MLB by age 20 if his development stays on track.

Didn't know this was legal. How many 12 year olds can hit 95 mph pitching?

Nobody actually believes this dude is 12 right? He looks like he’s on his second marriage and shoots tequila before he goes to his construction job

All the big international free agents agree to their deals at like 12-14 years old

I’m surprised it’s actually being reported though

This of course is the obvious joke, but still spot on. He’s 23 with 2 kids.

The craziest thing is if you watch LLWS actual 12 yr olds play against these grown arse men every year, and win over 60% of the time

That’s complete bullshite. No MLB team is gonna allocate any funds a full 4 years in advance.

There’s no such thing as a pre-agreement. Dominicans can sign at 16. Or if they fudge their age earlier like Adrian Beltre did. But teams face consequences if caught

A 12 year old throwing 95 sounds like a blown out arm before he ever gets of age to sign

I don't know shite about baseball and don't follow baseball, but didn't atlanta get in big trouble for a situation with trying to lock in a foreign youngster (maiten? Maitan?) a while ago and got heavily penalized for it? Am I thinking of something else?

It’s not physically possible to make contact with a 95-96 MPH fastball at the age of 12?

At the very least 15. I'd guess 17-19 though.

He also seems to only have that single photo which isn't suspicious at all
