I’m guessing it’s because of all the coast line and water access in Birmingham

This is a great development for Birmingham and the region. Can’t think of a better outcome for the city. Will be interesting to see if anything happens in that area.

I’m thinking search and rescue for Rip tide drownings will be at all time lows for Birmingham.

It is an inland port. Port Birmingham is north of downtown.

Wouldn’t Mobile or a city on the other side of the bay make more sense for the coast guard in Alabama?

In a state full of people who frick their family members, maybe it makes perfect sense

ETA jokes aside, good for Alabama. Louisiana is like half water and we couldn’t be trusted with it

What Birmingham mayor wanted to build a cruise terminal there? And not for river cruises. For Caribbean destinations?

That's cool but can't get funded until illegals get to vote in federal elections.

Birmingham has a port on the river. Also, the Navy used to have a pier on the river as well.

Best possible outcome for the community and Birmingham. Our senators have been able to milk the government over the past couple of decades.
