Smoke flavor on a gas grill, seeking advice on how to get my man card back.

I have a 4 burner gas grill. It does great for my family and I usually cook a bunch. I miss the smoke smell and flavor from a charcoal grill. While I realize a charcoal grill is the only way to get that particular smell/flavor, what are some alternatives for smoke on a gas grill? I usually do burgers, pork steak, pork finger, quarters and breasts. I understand with real advice comes ridicule, I'll take the good with the bad.

I have a metal box that I put wood chunks in, then place it above a burner. It smokes up pretty good in my Genesis…

Sell the gas grill and go back to charcoal.

that's exactly what I did when I had a Genesis gas grill and it helps but it's not a substitute for chunk charcoal

Can also place some wood chips in foil and punch holes in the foil. That will get is smoking too.

Try a smoke tube. I have no experience with it but its essentially a tube you place on the grill that burns wood chips.

When we travel for vacation I’ll put some moistened wood chips and wrap them in foil with a small crack at the top. It won’t get you all the way there but it’ll help a little

JK. Try the smoketube. Mine has a tray you fill chips in that is part of the grill...

I second the smoker tube. I use it on my pellet grill to get more smoke when I'm doing a slow cook.

That’s a Franklin. Wish it was mine. They are $4500.

I had it on my apartment patio sitting a a wood spool instead of a table. It cooked anything from hot dogs to steaks perfectly. Very little clean up because it's small an it has the tray underneath it.
Sell the gas grill and go back to charcoal.

I have a Weber Kettle at the camp and it is great for that flavor when you want to.wait.
At home I have a 4 burner and a chrome smokebox that I thow inside. Put the box under one burner on high with the meat on the opposite end. Go running/biking/etc. Then crank up the burner under the meat, seer both sides and enjoy. It ain't truly "smoked" but it is grilled with smoke flavor.
For true low n slow, keep it offest from the heat and wait for the proper temp. Again, it won't be truly smoked but will be better than oven baked with smoke flavor.
I gotta get a real smoker at home or camp soon.

What the heck is this?

This is the answer. Smoke tube full of pellets tightly packs. Light it on one end and set it to the side. Will smoke like you wouldn't believe. If you do this when it's colder, you can put it in the smoker without heat and smoke stuff like cheese and fish.
