Once you beat the Crystalian in the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel, you receive a Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1] that you can give to the twins in Roundtable Hold. Offer it to them, and then you should be able to buy Smithing Stones 1 and 2 from them afterwards. There's also a giant troll blacksmith that sells somber smithing stones 1-4 on the NW bank of Liurnia Lake.

I'm struggling with finding smiting stones to upgrade my weapons. In Dark Souls at some point you can buy them. Can you buy them here?
like someone just mentioned, you have to find these ball bearings that will open up different items for purchase if you need to buy some.
Are you looking for help in finding them out in the wild? The elden ring wiki.fextralife website does a good job outlining drops and item locations. I'll use it as a last resort if I've gone extended periods of time without finding what I'm looking for. Most of the time I'll find out that I simply haven't unlocked a particular area yet which tells me that I wasn't meant to upgrade the weapon any higher at that point.

Group password explanation
I’m on series X so I propose TDXBOX for that platform. Or if we want to go to a general nonspecific phrase : TDGB.
Was watching a vaayi vidya video and he explained some cool stuff that goes along with it. For example, If anyone kills a shard bearer, other group members get a buff for a window of time for additional runes per kill.
Also, it seems like you can add five groups simultaneously so may want to consider the following:
SEEKERS - vaati
GitGud - gamefaqs
straydmn - reddit
Soul buffs all day

I don't want to say this is recency bias, but this might be the most fun I've ever had with a game in a loooong time. I mean this game just does everything right and then some. The amount of secrets, vast amount of weapons and ashes of war, cool bosses and places to explore. I have no idea how FromSoft or any company will top this.

Same. I was excited for Starfield later this year but I think Elden Ring has set the open world bar too high

Just beat the full moon queen finally, man that first part was the most annoying thing. Little bastards wouldn’t stop pelting me with books!

What's great about this game is I'm at about 50 hours...I don't even use ashes of war/magic or really any weapons but like the 2nd one I ran into (a greatsword or something but have it upgraded to +9). That's why I think this game is amazing...we are probably having two very different experiences but still loving it.
I can't remember the last game where I actually wanted to explore every part of the map. Maybe Witcher 3 which I didn't even get into the DLC because after beating the main story I kinda felt exhausted. Hopefully I keep chugging along in this game and don't lose that steam. Just don't see it...it's as if skyrim actually had a great fighting system (again I don't use magic...just hack and slash which was pretty weak in skyrim if I recall correctly).

lol noob. first tried the queen moon. Now ramadahn, that guy was a bitch... i then figured out you can summon all those warriors and it made it easier as i was just letting them fight and summoning them over and over again but the big bastard would still come for me. When I finally beat him I got tired of the warriors taking forever to beat him down so I just went up behind him and landed a sick combo and weakened him to 1/4 before he disappeared for the first time. Then I was able to take him down. Cool armor and fight. Game is a masterpiece. Minus the shitty PC port

I'd also add
Demon's Souls Discord - nexus
They are wrecking shard bearers left and right and I didnt even realize it was buffing me, now a lot of shite makes more sense

It's legit one of the best games I've ever played. I'm a huge FF7 and FF6 (original), and Chrono Trigger fan and those games have reigned at my top list since the 90s but Elden Ring just might take over that top #1 spot in my list, it's just incredible and I have that sense of wonder (BOTW was able to invoke this in me as well) and excitement just exploring.
Then you add in that insanely addictive FromSoft formula where you die and get frustrated so many times, that the time you finally take that boss down you just died 20+ times to and your health bar is low and you get that insane adrenaline rush that tbh gets you a bit high and your heart racing.
Not many games can pull that off, much less seamlessly integrate that insanely awesome experience/formula into an open world game. You could say this even expands that formula because if you hit a roadblock you can literally just turn around and get lost miles away, then eventually come back fresh to that boss, etc.
Masterpiece.

so ive wrapped up and platinumed horizon and looking for my next game.
so what the boards general consensus? Musick loves it apparently.
i have not been a previous fan of games form these guys. I got through 2 bosses in bloodborne and put it down and never came back. is this THE one to finally sit down and try to get into?
is it significantly different or pretty much open world more of the same? i dont want a completely obtuse story and spend 5 hours on a single boss. i appreciate that is a draw for some, it is not for me.

its a fromsoftware game. bloodborne/souls style. if you hated bloodborne youll hate this. imo both are grteat

I tend to disagree. The combat is similar and the game ain't easy, but being open world vs. a linear progression makes Elden Ring more accessible and interesting to the average gamer IMO.
If you're stuck on a boss, you can simply go explore elsewhere, come back several levels later, and destroy them. That wasn't really an option in the previous Fromsoft games for the most part without just grinding the same areas over and over again.

Yep, I agree. If there ever was going to be an FS game that the average gamer could get into, this is it.

trying my best to not be offended by this terminology. Been gaming since before some you bastards existed.
(old man shouting at sky)
honestly its the deliberate obtuseness in gameplay and story that gets me. i dont mind difficulty. loving Sifu (although not really that difficult).

I guess I should say the barrier to entry isn't as high as the rest of the FS games. I do find the story less vague and easier to follow than the prior installments, but I that's all subjective I suppose.

Bloodborne is in my top 5 as well so I loved that game to give you perspective. BB was my first FromSoft game and I quit it and put it down for 4-5 months after just not feeling it. I came back to it and something "clicked" for me and I suddenly got it (to be fair I did this with Minecraft in 2011-12) and it became one of my favorites.
The combat is a lot like that (but much expanded, and much more variety in builds) but refined. Also, as others have said before, this is certainly the mose accessible FromSoft title, not just because of the open world, but they give you summons without multiplayer as a game mechanic (Lost Ashes), an AMAZING horse traversal (with double jump, btw) travel mechanic, instant fast travel (highly underrated btw), and also open that that non-linear, do whatever you really want type openess. They also give you much better healing options (dont have to collect vials) and also add a magic flask, (and a cool third one for buffs)
So if you can imagine Skyrim/Dark Souls/Bloodborne/BOTW had a baby, it's Elden Ring.
