re: Do you bring a personal cooler when golfing? Story Time.

I asked the question at the beginning of this thread but it was buried at the bottom of the page. Should courses be more strict to the point where it’s as taboo to bring your own alcohol to a golf course as it is a restaurant? If everyone knew it was a big no-no and frowned upon and there was basically nowhere to go to get away from it, would golf be better overall?

I was more concerned about him complaining about the conditions and not understanding the economics of a business/golf course.

Do you ever play without drinking?
I’d be stumbling if I drank six beers on a 90 degree day.
I’ve had beer on the course. I’ve had too many a couple of times, but I mostly don’t drink much on the course if at all.
I don’t like buying overpriced stuff so I don’t buy beer on the course most of the time. Sometimes I’ll have one after the round.

You’re not bragging about getting drunk and driving home? Apparently you and I are in the minority here.

Let he who has never brought a flask of whiskey into Tiger Stadium cast the first stone here.
I generally don't drink beers on the golf course, but I'll bring a cooler of beers to enjoy with my buddies after the round. We sit on the tailgate and drink a few double IPAs. Sorry not sorry for not going to the clubhouse bar to buy their overpriced shitty light lagers.

quote:Oh look. Someone else who completely missed the point. The issue isn’t with doing it. It’s about crying and complaining and threatening to never return if you’re caught and the rule is applied. When people get caught sneaking in flasks in TS, they laugh to off and move on. Imagine telling an anonymous message board that you were caught once and now may never return to TS. It’s funny.

I mean when its super hot and its light beer it doesnt do a whole lot. Just something refreshing to drink. You should be able to drink a 6 pack in 4 hours pretty easily, ESPECIALLY outside when your are just sweating.

Sure, if you're an alcoholic

Either way, no one wants to hear him complaining about the Marshall making him put his beer into the truck. I really don’t understand what he was hoping to accomplish with that rant.

I don’t bring a cooler, but I usually bring a big water bottle filled with ice water during the summer.

I usually walk and don't drink but when I'm playing cart golf with the boys they make 18 packs for a reason. 18 beers for 18 holes.
And no, I'm not a sloppy drunk. It's beer, and drinking is a pastime up here. I can handle it.
As to the OP, can't complain about the rules. At least they let you put it back and play on.

Don’t complain about course condition if you don’t supplement the budget by buying alcohol.
Great point! Never looked at it this way....

I don’t drink during the week at all so I’m kind of easily intoxicated.
I also limit myself to 2 drinks due to blood thinner.

Unless I am playing somewhere super nice I always bring a small cooler. It contains a couple beers, a couple bottles of water and a cooling towel if it's hot. I always tip the cart girl $5 regardless of whether I buy anything or not. No one has ever said anything to me about having a cooler. If they did I would happily comply.
