Well, I absolutely agree and also agree that the opposite can be true. BK and Sloan proved it. You can take a bunch of highly rated prospects and run a shitty and outdated scheme and it can WRECK your offense. Works BOTH ways, lol !

Kiffin didn’t come to lsu to try and win with undraftable players

True, but it’s clear he prioritized allocating resources to other positions based on the players coming and going on the OL. He apparently feels confident his offense can be successful without breaking the bank on the line, except possibly at LT.

The modern offensive great minds - Payton, McVay, Shanahan, Reid, Kiffin, etc. They make the OL look good as well as everyone on their offense.
Payton’s Saints teams, those interior OL guys that Saints fans revere would have been no names had they not ended up with Payton.
You ever see any of the above coaches with bad OL’s?

It’s a lot of gap scheme with the field stretched sideline to sideline with WRs. The OL doesn’t have to be dominant if they just execute and they and the TEs block effectively.
Think about most of the sets you’ve seen from Sloan the last two years. Tons of condensed sets that, by nature, draw more of the defense into the box. When you run out of these condensed sets, it’s easier for the defense to defend with more bodies in the box and it forces the OL to be elite blocking and moving up a level.

the point still stands that it's a pretty damn impressive feat, especially given the lack of OL talent they've worked with.
If they were sniffing the top 5 over a 6 year period with that talent void it’s impressive, if they were truly 1st then it’s mind blowing.

You’re 100% true with this BUT it’s his first year and was late getting started with this class. He has done a masterful job at putting a team together.
Let’s give the man a chance please

Hmmm.....averaged over the 6 yrs maybe so. He also had some pretty good running QBs to help. I think his tempo helps with this as well when you are not allowing defenses to bring in fresh DT's or DT's needed for a run def.
I think his schemes and drawing plays up help his OL's though. He is doing stuff that casual observers might not catch or see. Myself included but he does have a way of making it very difficult on defenses no matter how strong they are.

Thanks for posting, I agree and can't wait to see what he does with all the talent LSU can bring him

I don’t think people realize yet, how different this will be. Unlike the last 4 or so coaches, LK is all offense (attack) in his mind. The closest we had, was Coach O allowing Brady to do his own thing. Now, we finally have a TRUE offense guru steering this ship. That’s why the SEC and college football is worried deep down
Posted on 1/18/26 at 3:56 pm to Laman1978
I have zero concerns with the OL with Kiffin. They can scheme around weakness
Posted on 1/18/26 at 4:58 pm to Laman1978
We had 2 top draft picks on OL and still couldn't run the ball.

Have no concerns at all of a Kiffin led offense. Except going on 4th too much. Other than that he will have success and light up the scoreboard consistently on anyone

Not disagreeing totally. But Mike Denbrock was a stellar offensive coordinator. He still is.
I do agree we are upping it a notch or two still from him.

Denbrock, like Brady, was just the OC. We now have the head man as an offense mastermind

How in da fuq did Kentucky hire Sloan as OC?
