Interesting.

I wonder if Christian Cairo still has his class schedule Mainieri handed to him before he walked out of his office to sign. Might as well just pick up there and bring in some MIF help for the 2027 season.

In reality it’s going to be really interesting when guys like you mentioned, who get waived/cut around winter meetings, want to come back to school. Like imagine if Stanfield had tested the waters, got picked up for the summer and dropped before the spring.

Does LSU bring him back and push someone out in December? Feel like this’ll happen this year or next.

Anyone know when January scrimmages usually start? We’re only 42 days from start of the season

starting to look around at rosters and schedules for teams I think will be interesting this season. UC Santa Barbara opens the season with 3 games in Hattiesburg against Southern Miss.

That's an awesome series right off the bat.

Yeah, some young LA arms there that probably won't see action yet and curious to see if Stelly is given the start in CF

I wonder if Grayden Harris and Jackson Flora will pitch against each other. If so, that would be one of the premier pitching matchups of the first weekend.

I believe this makes him the first player in the program that has come from BRCC, albeit indirectly.

The ABCA conference is this weekend. The D1 champ winning coach is always the first speaker, so Jay will be speaking tomorrow morning. Josh Jordan is also presenting at the conference.

This is also where a lot of stuff is voted on to present for rule changes to the NCAA, so we will probably get some news related to that over the weekend or early next week.

William Patrick and Omar Serna a listed among Baseball America's top 25 college freshmen for this upcoming season. They are LSU's only representatives on the list.

Not too surprising as they were considered big draft prospects and Baseball America is more prospect focused, soliciting opinions from scouts and MLB front office people when putting together lists like this.

I’ve been going to most of the fall/spring scrimmages since Jay got here and I think this is the most impressive group of freshman we’ve had since he got here. Doesn’t mean it’ll all translate to the season because there’s only so many at bats and innings available but Ruckert, Braun, and Serna all mashed this fall. Clauss and Patrick struggled at times but really flashed a lot of potential and didn’t struggle nearly as bad as we’ve seen freshman hitters do in the past few seasons. Paz, Ricken, and Theophilus will all have opportunities to show that they are conference roster adds after the stuff they flashed in the fall.

I really think this freshman class can be really special. Paired with last year’s freshman class and what we could potentially be bringing in for next year, I don’t think we’re going anywhere soon.

Did LSU ever offer Harris out of high school? He was Southern Miss’s Sunday starter as a true freshman last year.

I don't know where he stood on LSU's board. He committed to Southern Miss pretty early.

Pretty sure LSU tried to get on Harris late but he was already pretty much set on Southern Miss
he had a great senior year so wasn't on many teams radar early in his career

Looking at former players in pro ball to see how they're progressing, I saw that the Astros released Travinski at the end of last season. Riley Cooper was also released by the Orioles. I know Cooper was trying to get on with another affiliated team. I haven't seen any updates on Travinski.

This place is going to be intolerable again for baseball season. Jay's success has brought out the worst, and now the Kiffin regime is bringing out the worst of the worst.
