It’s not trolling OM if he can choose when to commit any time

Im not coping when I say this. He wasn’t very good in coverage at all. He has issues with missed tackles and needs to get that cleaned up.

I mean, when you zoom out for a sec, we are splitting hairs a bit here. Bottom line is that we are a little thin at LB and kinda just need serviceable bodies. We don’t expect him to be the next Devin White but we were 1-2 injuries away from walk ons playing.

I think benefield will be the star with cooley and spears safeties. Dockery next to weeks

It's going to be interesting to see how that all shakes out, with this roster getting so stacked. FWIW, I heard Moscona say that it's his understanding that Spears is going to slide over to star.

Just don’t let him have a camera phone in the locker room

The two remaining Weeks brothers are installing Faraday cages outside the locker room doors as we speak!

That’s the point. There was no reason for them to post the announcement exactly at 11:59 PM other than to troll Ole Miss.

You have a group of young LBs on the roster you’re really excited about. One in Braker who hopped in that you convinced to come back. IMO, they weren’t planning on going after a LB, but Dottery fell in their laps last minute when his contract stuff at OM blew up. They weren’t going to turn him down, he’s clearly your other starter next to Whit. I think they had him delay so none of the young guys would get pissed and declare last second.

Super interesting. Obvi Baker knows what he envisions for that role the best, so Spears makes sense as well.

Benefield is just a big boy who makes plays around LOS. I always got the sense that Perk was probably liked more as a banger/pursuit/pass rush guy in that role, but lacked in the coverage aspects.

Maybe Baker would prefer that role be better in coverage, even if a little less banger

Haters will say tackling stats can be misleading. Well, sure, I do remember Saints LB Cutis Lofton having around 140 tackles multiple years in a row, but 50% of them seemingly were after 4 or 5 yards were already gained.

However, Dottery not only led in the SEC tackles, but he played 900+snaps. He was always on the field. If you got a guy that's rarely nicked-up, always available/reliable, and actually makes tackles that prevent big gains/first downs, you take him all day, everyday.

I think all of that is very much a reason they delayed announcing his signing. It still doesn’t explain doing it exactly at the portal deadline. They could have announced the signing today.

Should be a great fit at the star spot . Ole miss played him in coverage a lot vs WR’s

He played MLB and was not good in coverage unfortunately.

Princewill is the much bigger boom for LSU. Dottery was being recruited over.
