You take him if he comes, and then let the 3 of them fight it out.

You need three QBs, at least. LSU has to get HS guys at QB to come in. Even if they are one and done, this is where you build cheap depth.

Well sure he’d be a take. But I doubt he’d come given the 2 QBs.

Only way I see this happening is if he's guaranteed starting job and money in year 2 with the opportunity to play this year due to Leavitt's injury. I don't see that mostly because Leavitt has 2 years left. If he tears it up he's going to NFL but if not, he stays and finishes his second year at LSU. Unless he's a 1st you're more likely to keep QBs right now due to the money they getting. They getting more than most 1st round QBs.

I could see it as open competition with the unknown of the injury to Leavitt. You need at least 3 QB's on a roster.

Leavitt didn’t sign here to compete for a starting job

Peyton Houston gonna be annoyed at going from NO competition to all the competition in about 10 seconds.

Unlimited transfers makes competing less risky. At this point he’s not going to get a starting job at a top university as Miami looks toward other options. So he’s looking at another year as a backup. But he can come to LSU, make good money, learn under Lane and have a clear path to a starting job next year. Or he could go to a smaller school and prove it and get more offers. It’s hard to say what makes the most sense but if he wants to be in the LK offense, being a backup for a year is what’s best.

Lane's job is to compensate them, pump them up and tell them they can win any fight, and then put them in one.

Longstreet could sit a year and then be the guy in 2027. Or Longstreet could see time if Leavitt has a rough time coming back from injury.

I can’t imagine that we would get all three of them.

I thought I read somewhere that Leavitt was going to be here 2 years. And people saying that was a great thing because Pop Houston could have a RS freshman year and learn the system.

No one is guaranteed anything. Especially 1.5 years from now.

It's interesting to think about. No big name QB wants to either compete, much less sit.

Could we convince Longstreet to give up a million or two in order to sit behind Leavitt for potentially 2 years? He's got 4 years left so maybe.

But you've gotta then think that if we get him to agree to that, Houston is out of the picture because we're then asking him to do the same thing.

The way personell management works in today's CFB world is fricking horrible.

Well, we certainly need one more QB.

If I'm Longstreet, I'd take my shot here. I doubt this staff guaranteed Leavitt the starting spot, so Longstreet will have a chance to compete for it, along with Clark. Leavitt is coming back from a serious injury and will probably be out for spring practice (except maybe walk throughs), so Longstreet would have the upper hand going into Fall.

While Leavitt has the experience and is a really good QB, I could certainly see a scenario where Longstreet or Clark compete their asses off and take advantage of the time Leavitt misses. They could go into Fall camp potentially ahead of Leavitt on the depth chart and not let go of it. Not saying that'll happen, but just saying Longstreet and Clark are damn good football players and I could see a world in which they would start the season as the starter.
