What are some of your favorite moments from the season that lead to the Crystal football?
The 03 UGA game is considered one of the best games in Tiger Stadium history. That's up there. And I started following LSU football in the 90s and knew we hadn't won a title since the 50s, so as a kid I was pretty resigned to the fact that we'd have a good year every once in a while like winning the SEC in 01, but that was it. I thought after losing to Florida that was it for our natty chances and was just gunning for another SEC title at that point. I legitimately cried when we beat OU because I never thought I'd get to witness us win a natty, much less 3 and make another in my lifetime. Kinda hard to put into words, that year changed expectations for LSU fans forever.
Also Lincoln Riley is a snake, I enjoyed him getting owned by Utah and Tulane to end the year. Hope BV turns it around and LSU/OU has some good games coming up once you guys join the conference. Looking forward to it.

That may have been the most thrilling night of my life.
I was 45 years old and had many friends with children going to LSU at the time.
I told them in advance that I have been waiting for a night like this since I started going to the games in 1966 and if we won, if they thought their college kids were going to out party me they better think again.
And I was right. After the game we left the dome, marched to the French Quarter and didn’t leave until 4:00 am.

LSU fans know how to party and have a good time for sure. I wasn’t at the 2019 Peach, but my uncle was there and said the LSU faithful know how to turn up. I hope to experience Death Valley in person. I hear the fans are quite engaging, the food is unlike any other tailgating experience, and Tiger Stadium can be deafening.

I remember being nervous all second half because 7 points was not a large enough lead to be comfortable versus a Heisman QB.
The lead was 14 for most of the half. Oklahoma cut it to 7 with 11 minutes left. It got tense, but LSU was clearly the superior team.

And 2023 marks 20 years since LSU football started its journey to what we all know now as an established college football national power.
LSU was an established football power long before 2003. It just got lost from sight during the early 1990s.

We have some fans who are delusional by using our overall history as a way to defend anything happening today.
That was my “bad” experience with arrogant OU fans that weekend. I was asking him what “Boomer Sooner” was all about, and his drunken reply was “it means 7 national titles about to be 8!”
Guess he’s still waiting for number 8, though.
I remember Tiger Stadium going wild during the UGA game when Green caught that touchdown pass. Having a bad feeling in my gut whenever LSU returned that punt for an early touchdown against Florida, but maybe that’s just hindsight with how the game ended. And, if I recall correctly, the only 100-yard rusher govern up by that 2003 defense was LA Tech’s Ryan Moats.
Being excited and jumping up and down in my house whenever I got the email saying I was selected for student tickets to the game.

How the hell did we not have Oklahoma join the sec first instead of aggot. I mean how refreshing is it to actually have a discussion with a fan of an opposing team who is not a total pos. And here’s the best part, Oklahoma has actually accomplished something, in fact they’ve accomplished a lot.
Should have left aggot.
Should have left aggot.

So many great moments from that season
The absolutely dominant defense - particularly Spears and Lavalais upfront, Marquise Hill over the middle (RIP) and lockdown secondary play by Corey Webster and company
Mauck to Skylar Green vs Georgia
Paying back Auburn and Bama after losses to both in 02
Trev Alberts screaming how Georgia would dominate us in the SECCG
So many Justin Vincent big runs in the back half of the season
I also recall another play at Bama that year. The one where Lavalais made a big stop and the entire crowd in Bryant-Denny buzzed about it. The game wasn't very close, but that play was memorable.

65 yrs Young here ! Went to game with my 2 sons then 18 & 13 . I also Never thought I would get to see LSU Win the NC ! Went back in 07 but it wasn’t the same as the first. It was great and I loved Miles but nothing like the first ! Could have gone in 11 and did go back home to NOLA just didn’t think we should have had to play those pricks again after the “Game of the Century “ and glad I didn’t go. Yes off track (see 65) Lmao ! 03 greatest moment was high fives with Whitworth, and others but can’t remember the others, Whitworth was HUGE ! Partying afterwards was Awesome !

One of the best weekends of my life. Went to game with dad (RIP) and we celebrated my mom’s bday along with some of their friends.
We saw Cowboy Mouth the 1st night and it was their kind of scene to get everyone fired up. Nice dinner the next night somewhere that had Japanese gardens (?) on restaurant property. I went to meet friends on Bourbon after, craziest of nights.
Day of game another epic adventure. Actual 1st quarter of game seemed to last forever. Exhausted after the fully satisfying win but made it to Bourbon St. for some Kastle Burgers before crashing hard with a Permagrin and visions of Spears & our D dominating the game from start to finish. I think game basically ended on us getting a punt off. Donnie Jones maybe?

I live in Kansas. My best friend is an OU season ticket holder. I've heard all of the horror stories from the OU faithful over the years about how shitty NOLA was, how mean LSU fans were, and how OU didn't lose that game, OU just ran out of time. Refreshing to hear a positive take from a Sooner fan.
That game was the start of OU earning the reputation they have now. USC the next year and UF in 2009 were the final nail in the coffin for Big Game Bob.
As others have stated, that year was sort of a magic carpet ride. Similar to 2019, but different in the sense of where the program was coming from and what it had meant. It's pretty remarkable to think of the trajectory it set us on. To think there are fan bases in this conference who talk about LSU like they wouldn't trade places with them in a heartbeat is comical. Bama & UF are likely the only ones who wouldn't.
I'll never forget watching that game on a 32" box TV while my dad was in attendance at the game. It sound so trivial, but it felt so crucial to us a fanbase to play in that game, win that game, and feel like we belonged int those kind of games. What a ride ever since.

I was pretty young at the time but I remember watching the game at a big house party with my folks and everyone being elated and all the old timers talking about how it was a generational win and championship. Definitely wasn’t a given that LSU was going to be a national power for the next couple decades when we won that one. That game established us in the national picture though and has felt like we belong among the college football elite since.
