re: A potential solution to keep Frank Wilson

That’s all well and good. Frank is a good coach. But people are acting like if Lane lets him go, it’ll be catastrophic. It won’t be. Every national champion in history was won without Frank. That doesn’t mean he’s bad at his job it’s just pointing out that he isn’t the end all be all of our success.
This may come as a shock to you, but if don’t think it’ll be catastrophic or the key to success, I’m NOT TALKING TO YOU.

Just make them officially both co-running back coachs, but keep Frank Wilson for primarily recruiting in person.
The staff can only be ten coaches (plus analysts).
In short, there isn’t room for both of them “on staff.”

How in the world did LSU ever survive without Frank Wilson on staff?

Nick Saban, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron?
One is the best coach of all time. The other two were top tier recruiters.
I mean, that makes sense to me.
News flash…none of them are still there.
Kiffin may be great in that capacity. My take, however, is why take that chance. Recruiting is the one thing that we know Wilson does very well.
Just my .02.

the solution to not losing the recruiting edge that Frank has developed is to hire Honey Badger as the ST coach and let him inject more life into that group and the entire team, while also being the new recruiter for SLA, which no hs coach is going to turn away. Frank has done his job and made a lot of money doing it. Time to move on, if we have enough foresight to replace him with HB, who wants on the staff really bad, and we need really badly imo

Not sure if it was all Frank but waiting till November to notice Harlem Berry is the best back wasn’t great.
Might have taken Berry that long to pick up blocking assignments. Doubt he blocked much in high school. He was the only duv1 guy on the team and was too busy scoring on long runs.

Frank has an offer from LSU in hand, but it is not as running back coach
And Lane isn't having his experienced buddy Kevin Smith be an analyst
I could be wrong if the rule has indeed changed. We'll see

He recruits for LSU (not Ole Miss). He no longer coaches the running backs (despite the title).
I think everyone keeps getting hung up on the titles when those are no longer relevant to who can or cannot recruit. LSU simply designates which 11 members of the staff are allowed to recruit. They don’t have to be tied to any particular title. Similarly the “RB Coach” doesn’t have to be someone designated as one of the 11 who can recruit. The term analyst is somewhat obsolete. It’s a short-hand way to identify who isn’t a designated recruiter, but it doesn’t have to be that way any more.

That’s not really true anymore. There used to be a rule that tied the two together, but now you can have as many “on-field” coaches as you want, you’re just limited to 11 who can recruit. They can call Frank Wilson the running game coordinator or fullback coach or something else with no particular meaning or responsibility and he can still be one of the 11 designated to recruit.

Why has he done to warrant to keep
Him? He ain’t bigger than the brand. Running backs under performed.

Just heard you cannot recruit on the road if you're just an "analyst" in title. So having Wilson as an Analyst kinda defeats the purpose in keeping him.

Yeah. Scone has said you can only have 10 on field coaches but I don't think thats correct. You can have unlimited but only HC +10 can recruit off campus. It may be semantics with analysts being able to coach on field but thats what Google said.
But Frank being limited to campus recruiting does hinder him.

Frank has milked the “New Orleans Connection” for all its worth and then some. Time to send him packing!

Yeah I had almost word for word the same post/idea on the CCB and was massively downvoted.
Our logic is strong but I think the overwhelming opinion over there is Frank isn't worth all the trouble.
Folks point to the "NIL era" as to why we wont need Frank.. but we're actually in the "deloitte era" where all these deals need to go through a clearinghouse.
Our alumni/donation game better be strong as we're gonna have to, at least on paper, show the.NIL deals we offer make.sense in the real.world
I still think Frank would be worth it, even if just to keep rivals out of the state

Do we know for a fact that Smith wants to come, he wasn't on the plane?
