Boo hoo hoo I have to pay for 3 February baseball games when I get the other 53 for next to nothing.
It’s kind of impressive how bad you are missing the point

We watch the other 53 games of the season without paying D1 Baseball extra money.
Besides, however you watch the other 53 games, on TV or in person, you're paying for those games, too.

Dude
We get that we all pay for each game one way or the other
The problem with this D1 series is and always has been how shitty it is compared to random midweek games on ESPN

Nobody was forcing you to do anything. You act like it is some God-given right that every single LSU baseball game be televised. Be glad you got what you got.
Note that I said “trying” to force us, not that I’d expect some idiot cuck sticking up for this joke of a wasted weekend of baseball to be able to read simple sentences

Honest question. Has D1 ever streamed a tournament without LSU in it?

They've done way more without LSU than with LSU.

The problem doesnt have anything to do with D1 themselves (granted their stream was a shitshow the previous 2 years with people paying $25-$30 for it which is a joke for a weekend).
The problem is the setup of having this 3rd party having to come in to stream the games at these tournaments (because ESPN doesnt want the extra cost and doesnt have the obligation to do it) and to put something like that on they need to cover their costs and hopefully make a profit so for 1 weekend out of the entire season people are forced to pony up an extra $25-$30 for the special case scenario in order to watch a whopping 3 games (out of 50-60+) of their team (let be for real 98% of people are really just watching their own team).
It's basically just very anti-fan, anti-consumer and doesnt help promote the sport at all. Imagine being a sports fan casual and wanting to watch some of these games, none of those people are going to pony up $25-$30 to stream some college baseball games over a weekend.
I get why the teams/coaches like these as kind of pseudo tournament atmosphere in some ways, but it absolutely sucks on the fan side having to pony up $25-$30 to watch a few games because of the way its setup it doesnt fall under anything you already pay for.
d1 is just doing what others wont and are trying to cover costs/make a profit somehow in the process, but this being the scenario in the first place is what's kind of screwed up about the whole thing. Pretty much anyone can "afford" the $25-$30, it's not about affordability, its about just feeling squeezed every dollar possible out of you as a fan to watch the team you can watch almost literally every other game with a $30/mo ESPN Unlimited subscription each month.
On the d1 end the only shitty part was the stream sucked the previous 2 years and still isnt ESPN quality this year by any shape of the imagination...which for $25-$30 a lot of people would expect a premium product for 3 games (again being honest pretty much anyone just watching their team 3x in full, maybe watching a little bit of other games if you can) if you can watch the entire March (18-19 games or whatever) for $30 from ESPN Unlimited. Also if I was D1, why not rope your damn platform into an option for streaming the game? I would probably happily pay like $70 for a d1 season pass (like 5 months long) for access to their site and includes streaming from their tournaments they do that at. But no, they want an absurd $140/yr for basic access to their site and it's $190 for SEC/ACC insider and the content we'd truly want anyways....with ZERO access to the streams if you pay the $140/$190. Make better business decisions. This stuff isnt hard to think about. Get a fking forum so people can talk baseball on your site as well. It's 2026.

Most here 100% agree with everything you just said. Kendall’s Russian fluffer sees no problem with it though

"ESPN" doesn't produce games that you see on SECN+ and ESPN+. The individual schools do the production. Every school in the SEC for example has a whole division of people in-house who all they do is produce SECN+ content. When you see an ESPN+ game from some random place like Tulane, it is still done by Tulane people, not "ESPN" people...it is just branded as ESPN+ content.
So these tournaments like Jacksonville that are NOT hosted by an individual school, ESPN isn't in any way involved with it, nor would they want to be due to the cost involved. So the only way you can watch is if some 3rd party steps up and produces it. It is the same for other sports.
Women's basketball plays in a Caribbean tournament every year. Those games would go unaired, but an entity called FloSports has the rights and they do the production. It is just like what D-1 baseball does. It is generally a less-quality production and it costs a fee, but it is better than the alternative of not seeing the game at all. I watched women's games this year at Tulane and at Georgia Southern on ESPN+, but understood that the Virgin Islands tournament was a different deal and that I would have to pay to see those two...and this deal with the Jacksonville tournament is exactly the same.
No, the D-1 baseball production wasn't great. And yes, I get that it cost more than you are used to. But who else is willing to do it? Instead of dragging the guy through the ringer, maybe give a little credit along with some constructive criticism.

SIAP but if you wouldn’t want to pay 10 bucks to watch EVERY game, then you shouldn’t think it’s ok to pay 10 bucks for ANY game.
Everybody is tired of paying for new services and the price point to watch a college baseball game is a joke.

I totally agree. It was quality video and commentary from Ben and Lyn. Well worth it. Can’t believe all the pissy whining going on about it.

D1's product was better than previous years, but they still have a lot to improve on. For example:
Ben's mic being muted for whatever reason, so it seemed like Lyn was on his own for too long
Camera work that showed the wrong part of the field, so we didn't see a play happen
Scorebox that kept showing the wrong pitcher and batter
I paid $30 to watch it, but it wasn't the greatest. I'm glad we're done with it now.

Well said
Don’t regret spending the money and it was improved a bit
Still a subpar product
