Ironically, Orgeron could be painted in much the same way when he was the DLine coach.

He actively fed Ponamsky’s show information about the program and discussed with other coaches Les’ short comings and how he would run things if he were in charge.

Okay, 1, 2, 3, let's all fault O because he doesn't have a crystal ball and because he can't predict the future. One would think that a person serving in the capacity of an offensive coordinator would have learned how to work and get along with other people a long time ago.

Pat Narduzzi and the Pittsburgh players had nothing but great things to say about Canada and were sad to see him go.

I just think he has a problem taking offensive strategic direction from D-line coaches.

In fact, a lot of people say it was Ensminger who called the plays in that A&M game

No one has said that. The bowl game, yes. aTM, no.

since coach O and Aranda both believe Ensminger is the best coordinator available.

I seriously doubt Aranda believes that. And a guy who went 10-25 believing that doesn't say all that much about Ensminger.

but I happen to know him personally and he is one of the best human beings I have ever known in my lifetime.

Good for him. He wasn't and never will be the best available OC that LSU could have hired.

It's weird that in this same thread, people are praising Maryland for the great hire while bashing LSU for hiring a job jumper without "doing their due diligence."

How does that work?

I live in Maryland and while I certainly don't follow their team closely I'll try to pay a bit more attention this season. Their head coach was a former DC at Ohio State and now with Canada running the defense it could be interesting. They tried to run a spread offense last year and looked good against early cupcakes but by the end of the season they were down to their 4th or 5th string QB and the offense stalled mightily.

On paper it makes sense; Maryland ran a spread last year and doesn't have the recruits to go man-to-man with the best of the Big 10 but with Canada's eye candy it could make a difference.

Regardless it will be interesting to see how he affects Maryland's offensive numbers and overall success.

I wonder where he will end up after next year. Certainly not at Maryland

Good point there. For me, I liked Canada's offense, so I was hoping he stuck around and got another year. And his offense at Pitt was very good. So guess that's where the praise comes in.

But if O was gonna run him off for being hard to work with, etc, then maybe vet the guy and get to know him before you hire him to a top 10 OC job. Arguably even the #1 OC job at the time.

I think if you go back to the thread where LSU hired Canada, most people (myself included) were giving Orgeron praise for making a good hire.

I guess that's our mistake for assuming that Orgeron knew anything about him.

Wanna wager on it. My money is on Canada lasting more than a year.

He's been a head coach for all of two years. He isn't "known" for doing anything. But I'm sure you've followed Durkin's career as a coach and know everything about him...

incorrect. Durkin has never been employed by Ohio State. He was DC at Florida under Muschamp and DC in 2015 at Michigan

JUST GOD AWFUL! no way it woulda been better even with O's meddling this year with the QB he wanted and players with more experience in system.
