That was just another version of “We aren’t focused on them we are only focused on us”. It definitely could have been asked and answered better and will keep being taken out of context though.
Asking them what they “admire” about LSU was dumb. Those kids don’t give a shite about LSU’s past.

The difference is LSU is the gold standard for college baseball. That's like saying I don't know anything about the sport I'm playing or its history. LSU has 7 titles, for pete's sake, and it's not ancient history, like USC's titles.

If you ask LSU football players what they like about Alabama, you'd hope they say "nothing." It is a competition; I would hate to hear/read about them gushing over an opponent.

They're just kids but obviously not ready or prepared for interviews. The right answer is probably something generic along the lines of LSU's ability to consistently field great teams every year. It's also an opportunity to get in your opponents' heads thru praise and flattery, the kinds of psychological things Saban always worries about.
