I gotta give O credit for what he’s been able to do, but you know that if Scott was running that search instead of Joe, this would have went down very differently. Amateur hour Alleva.

Alleva is giving quotes on the story to peacock about how it worked out while not understanding the details of the search make him look like a buffoon.

O was the right hire and we’re going to prove it this weekend! We’ll be the only team of the 3 between, LSU, A&M, and Texas that will contend for the playoffs now and in the near future

Cool read, I never was big on Herman I wanted Fisher at the time. Coach O has taken this opportunity and ran with it if he fails it will not be from lack of effort. He is a monster on the recruiting trail and it seems he is trying to do what's needed for LSU to move forward and biggest thing is he isn't afraid to make changes for things that are not working out. Pretty sure Brady is our next offensive coordinator that coach E is just shadowing, there's no way in hell you look that different from one year to the next and be the same guy running the show. Future is bright

Alleva was a total idiot. It’s a shame he ran the show for so long.

Herman was using us all along and I really didn’t want him anyway.
If Orgeron can get us to the playoffs this year, I’m sold for a raise and extension.

Wow there were some bad coaches Alleva was interested in. WV? FEDORA?!!

So true. It was an embarrassment to this university.
GTFO. Go look at the Florida HC search when they fired Muschamp. Every decent coach in America passed on the job before they settled on McElwain. They actually expected Spurrier to “interview” for the job if he wanted it.

Coach O was the right hire and the people on the hiring committee knew it from the beginning. Canada was forced on O in compromise for making him head coach by the dissenters. Ensminger was the stop gap when Canada was revealed to be an unacceptable arse. Brady is the result of a good head coach being able to choose his own staff. We fell back into our own shite and came up smelling like Roses.

I would have loved to hear more about what Spurrier's thoughts were. Although I hated him when he was at Florida, I still respected his coaching ability.

To be fair, the article says Fedora expressed interest. Meaning his agent likely reached out to Joe.
Based on what was said, Alleva had little to no interest in most of the candidates listed. It was either going to be Herman or Orgeron, no matter what.
I'm glad it seems to have worked out for us, but this article confirms that Alleva's search was a joke, as suspected.

With that list of "candidates" I'm surprised Mullen wasn't seriously considered at the time...
Seems to check off a few boxes they were looking for...offensive background with a knack for developing QB's.
The whole multi-week "search" came down to a last minute showdown between Alleva and an agent who had all the leverage in negotiations.
Alleva was a disaster and horrible at p.r but may have just lucked into the best hire in some crazy way...Joe just comes off as an incompetent buffoon...then and now.

Excellent read for those interested.
Very interesting. So much so that it dispells a lot of accusations that have been here that they never looked at anyone else while the season was ongoing. It also confirmed what I believed to be the correct story regarding Fisher.
FTR, I was all in for Fisher but not for $7mil plus and that many yrs. I was even more in for Herman but felt he was just using us to get the UT gig. My next candidate was CEO. I did not see anyone else out there that was an upgrade to CEO.

Surely someone at LSU is gonna read that "Texas has a bigger checkbook" quote during the pregame warm up?

Everything about Joe Alleva nauseates and infuriates me, and his quotes in this article only further cement that.

Not a fan of Alleva but him telling Herman agent to F off brings a smile to my face. Herman will pay the price Saturday night. Geaux Tigers!,
Posted on 9/2/19 at 3:45 pm to classicgold
Herman would probably be LSU’s coach had Texas not been a dumpster fire under Strong. Once UT made their move he was their’s, Alleva and co had already screwed the pooch w Jimbo the prior season so we ended up with O.
Its amazing how many people overthink the whole situation when its so simple.

Alleva dropping an F bomb on Herman’s agent moves his rating as our AD from 4 out of 10 to a solid 4.5.

Delly absolutely has been sitting on this...This article confirms his role as the "mouthpiece" as everyone said. Took him a few years and LSU hire working out to feel comfortable putting it out there.
