How was the turnout at the Texas bowl
60/40 split for a Houston home game . Doesn’t quite compare to a Rose Bowl game unless they were afraid of the rain.

Bama fans are good fans but I still really dislike their teams. I was pleased to watch the arse spanking they got and hope they get many more in the future. I never followed Indiana’s football team before but I am going to hope they win out and are the national champs.

Alabama fans have never been one of the better traveling fan bases for whatever reason. A lot of bandwagon fans who don’t actually spend money maybe.

I sat in the LOUISIANA Superdome in 2012 and saw a crowd that had a ton of Alabama fans there for the NC.

LA is a long way from Alabama and its a fanbase that had the opportunity to travel all over the country for nearly 2 decades watching their team play in big postseason games. Including trips to the Rose Bowl in 2020 and 2023.

On the other hand, this was Indiana's first trip to the Rose Bowl in nearly 60 years and their first time being a championship contender in, well, ever. I can understand why their fans might be a little more eager to attend the Rose Bowl over Alabama fans who would be making their 3 trip to Pasadena in 6 years.

Yeti that's not a very good comparison, Texas vs Rose Bowl Playoff Game. Get real, it's apples and oranges. Crappy meaningless Texas Bowl vs the playoff? Looks like Tulane deserves the pick more than the Gumps.

It looked about 50/50 to me, and the Bama fans seemed to make more noise. It's tough to tell the fan split since both teams have very similar colors.

The announcers said it was an Indiana crowd. Watching the game on TV, there was a lot more cheering IMO when Indiana made a big play than when Alabama did. Obviously, you can't tell by the color, but reactions to big plays told the story to me.

I’m guessing Bama fans eschewed the cross country trip in favor of the OU matchup and plans to go to ATL if they won.

Bama has been in the Rose Bowl a few different times in the last 15 years. LBJ was the president the last time Indiana played there.

NFL does not give a frick about anyone else after taking over Christmas and playing games on any day of the week. CFP should do the same.

If CFB tried to compete with the NFL on a prime time tv slot, it would get its teeth kicked in.

It is estimated that the ratio of Gump fans to Hoosier fans was 20 to 80 percent . The decline is now in full free fall . That is completely and utterly embarrassing . I guess the no show Gumps had to prioritize double wide repairs

Or maybe those people have a disposable income like the rest of us and a trip to Oklahoma + a trip to the Rose Bowl + a possible trip to the next bowl + a possible trip to the title game seemed expensive.

I just called an emergency meeting of our family’s season ticket holders. We have to plan now for the next 7-10yrs of LSU dominance. This is sounding expensive.

But Alabama was in a Rose Bowl playoff. No excuse for their fan base.
I hate sticking up for Bama fans, but I feel like this is going to happen more and more with 12+ team playoffs. Travel fatigue among fanbases of teams that are regularly in the CFP will be an issue when you’re talking about 3 rounds of neutral site games. They need to do away with the bowls hosting playoff games, start the playoffs earlier, and have the games on campus of the higher seed up until the championship game.

Bama fans will take out a 2nd mortgage on their double wides to pay for football tickets.

This used to be the case pre-NIL under saban. They aren’t traveling well at all anymore. Not sure if it’s because the are spoiled brats just pouting about winning or they don’t have enough money due to NIL expenses. I heard on the radio this morning it was 90/10 Indiana.

glass houses, my man. They beat us by double digits.

Bama finished regular season 10-2. Beat UGA, Vandy, Missouri, Tenn.

Made the playoffs, beat OU to avenge one of their losses.

You can be happy Bama got pounded by Indiana, but don't crow too loudly. They had a MUCH better year than we did.

You really can’t blame them for not traveling all the way to the rose bowl. They just came off a trip to Oklahoma and Atlanta and would had two more neutral site games to travel to

This playoff setup is so stupid I can’t imagine many people can make all of this travel work

That is completely insane from a travel standpoint for college football
