Hillar Moore's father was a marine sergeant major at Iwo Jima AND DA Hillar Moore has arguably showed no bias OR preferential treatment when LSU students or athletes run afoul of the law dring a long tenure as Baton Rouge DA...

It is a tragic tragic situation on multiple levels AND I cannot imagine Coach O or DA Moore let these LSU football players skate on anything.

This wouldn't of passed the muster for news prior to the internet.

WTF in this quote insinuates the authorities gave the impression there was more to the story?
quote:

The case appears open and shut from what we know, but the authorities give the distinct impression that there is more to it. Moore, after describing the death of Johnson as “totally justifiable,” felt obliged to explain that, under the law, a vehicle is an “extension of the home.” It is true that the law says that you are entitled to kill an intruder who is “likely to use any unlawful force,” but so what? Homicide is justified anywhere if you think you are in mortal danger and Johnson was in the truck by invitation anyway.

As a complete aside to the OP and what transpired, why in the world do you complete a transaction off of Craigslist by having a complete stranger get inside your vehicle? That's really weird, no?

Man... There's just too much stupidity to even start to address it. Hillar goes easy on LSU players? That's a fricking riot

you have to wonder whether a couple of Alabama players, or even some regular Joes from that neck of the woods, would have been so speedily exonerated.

Does the author of this retarded article really have to wonder that?

That frick is really fishing hard for clicks.

Plus it's obvious he didn't actually end up selling it after getting side tracked.

Hillar would arrest his mother for jaywalking, the man is as straight as they come.

This seems borderline libelous. At best a total disgrace.

It’s still an open investigation

Is it? I mean technically this might be true, but that's probably more due to procedure than anything.

I'm pretty sure once the DA goes to the media and says the shooting was justified, you can bet the investigative aspect of the matter has concluded.

Ex- Orleans Parish DA Harry Connick refered to Gill as a “bottom feeder”.

The OP in his description of Gill is quite accurate.

A guy I work with thought it was drug related. I guess he isn't the only one.

I assume he's calling you an idiot because he doesn't need a conceal carry permit to have a gun in his vehicle. Of course, this dismisses the fact that having the permit demonstrates some level of proficiency with the weapon.

So, while it might not be totally relevant to this particular shooting, it does go to demonstrate that the shooter was a responsible gun owner.
