It was wild. There was a shot play to the TE in the 4th quarter and he's a big ole boy. He does not move well. Tulane defenders looked like they were stuck in mud trying to get to

It’s eye opening for sure when the TE initially made that catch I thot for sure one of their db’s would close the space but he flat out was running away from their safeties despite not being close to a burner. Their secondary was throughly exposed

quote:

Yeah, like I said in a different post, he won't be able to take those hole shots he took against Tulane. Cooley/Haulcey/Spears are much faster, more instinctual, and just generally better than anything he's faced thus far. I kind of hope Baker baits him with a ton of cover 2 and just let the safeties do their thing.

I hope we throw some similar coverages that we used on lagway to bait him into picks. Haulcy/cooley and spears are all so good at jumping routes and fooling the qb into thinking thr window is more open than what it was. Chambliss is still a D2 kid who hasn’t played a lot of football at this level baker will def throw things at him that’ll confuse him and when he does the safeties gotta capitalize.

quote:

Love this as well. No one has even been able to test Pickett on a shot play this year. You probably need at least 3 yards of separation with his length.

QB’s have legit been scared to attack Pickett’s side of the field. His size and length alone is imposing but how fluid and effortlessly he changes directions is freakish I think his level of quickness throws off QB’s

Agree with all of that.

I'm really interested to see what Baker dials up this weekend. This defense is just so exciting and allows for so many different looks.

we can play man well,
we better keep eyes on him. I expect a lot of zone coverages. I expect he hasn’t read many exotic zones.

We couldn't run on La Tech or Southeastern, man. Ole Miss may not have a good run defense but they still have SEC caliber linemen. We rushed for 3.9 ypc against Southeastern and 3.8 ypc against La Tech.

5 days ago we couldn’t even run on Southeastern

Im hopeful the passing game really clicks this week.

I believe that Chambliss is going to give the Tiger D trouble but will be contained.

We have 2 linebackers almost a prototype of a QB spy in Weeks and Perkins. Perkins is faster than any QB in the country. It’s going to be a long night for Chambliss.

Imo Weeks brothers effectiveness is actually reduced sideline to sideline.

Yeah but you forget we have Keys.

He’s a baller and fast. Did really well against Florida. I bet we see a lot him Saturday

Ole Miss defense , receivers , and running backs are not better than last year. The QB is unknown bc of lack of data. LSU’s defense is better than last year’s. Unless LSU commits more than 2 turnovers , they should win the game by 10 points or more.

Also putting West in the same category as his brother isn’t fair. Whit is a better player in almost every way as well as a better athlete.

In order for Ole Miss to win, they are going to have to have a Jayden Daniels like performance from Chambliss.

Or Marcel Reed type performance.

The offense needs to attack the middle of the field. We need to get out of zone blocking first the running game and push their weak DL. If Nuss will run a few times we shouldn’t have any problem moving the ball. Just the threat will keep their LB’s from blitzing.

Whit or Perk spying the QB. DL has to maintain their rush lanes and set the edge. They don’t have a Tre Harris type at WR so our DB’s shouldn’t have a problem.

Ole miss QB was D2 and back up starting the season. They haven't played a decent team yet. Defense will have another UF type performance. Not 5 picks but he hasn't see any Of these type blitzes or pressure. Miss is starting to feel good I got winning by 14+

Reading some previews and stumbled across the Ole Miss On3 preview:
quote:

LSU Must …
Find a way to make its offense play at a higher level than it has so far. They are 14th in the SEC in scoring offense, averaging just under 30 points per game. The Rebels defense will be the toughest its faced this season, too.
Uhh no. Ole Miss has at best the 3rd best defense we have played this year. It's likely closer to the La Tech Defense than it is the Clemson defense.
quote:

LSU Must …Defensively, LSU will have to see if its defense will be the first to shutdown Chambliss after two impressive starts against Arkansas and Tulane. If he gets close to 300 passing yards and a 100 rushing yards for a second straight week, the Tigers could be in trouble.
Uhh yeah. If the opposing quarterback puts up a stat line that Jalen Hurts x2, Bryce Young, Tua x2, Cam Newton, Johnny Manzeil x2, Jordan Travis x2, Jalen Milroe x2, Jaxson Dart x2, Trevor Lawrence, Geno Smith x2, Cade Clubnik, DJ Lagway x2, Anthony Richardson x2, Jordan Love, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and countless others (this hasn't been done against LSU as far back as 2000) have not done, Ole Miss will probably win the football game

I'd love to get paid to say "If Garrett Nussmieir has the best statistical performance Ole Miss has allowed from an opposing quarterback in program history, Ole Miss could be in trouble."

That same writers' game prediction:
quote:

Jake Thompson: The Rebels did what they needed to do in September to make this game as big as it is on Saturday. Once again they find themselves with a major CFP opportunity ahead of a game against LSU, but will it be a repeat of 2024?

This Ole Miss offense feels special with Trinidad Chambliss at the helm, not a slight to Austin Simmons, but there has been a little something extra added the last couple weeks. The LSU defense is special this season, but this will be the toughest offense it has faced this season — Clemson is no longer that special of an offense. I think the Rebels defense steps up and builds off the positive progress last week and Chambliss leads a big win entering the first bye week. Ole Miss 35, LSU 21
If Ole Miss scores 35 points and holds LSU to 21, then I'm betting $500 on Chambliss to win the heisman and probably another $500 on Ole Miss to with the title.

This is a game to use Perkins as a spy. Blitz Chambliss from his right side and force him out of the pocket to his left. Perkins annihilates him there.

This game comes down to Perk/Whit containing Chambliss.

Not that simple. Good gap assignment is important against a QB that can run, and that means numerous players doing their job. Pressure up the middle by Gooden and company can have a huge impact on this game. And having excellent DB play is another key factor when facing a dual threat qb. Team defense will be the difference.

I also look for Nuss to have his best game of the year. It seems the torso injury was affecting Nuss and we will see him healthy for first time this year.

This! Too much focus on improving our run game for this game. I hope we come out attacking them downfield and with slants. Play to our strength. And then use more runs once we're build a lead.
