Does anyone remember Chris Sciambras situation? Did he walk on to punt at LSU after he graduated and was done with baseball?

I wasn't referring to the football team being desperate. I was referring to Storz.
When I said "had" MLB potential I was referring to pre-injuries. I'm guessing he doesn't feel he will ever get back to where he was.

Unless he regains his velocity I’m not sure he projects as such

just to be clear, that video is a highlight of storz making a kickout, pancake block, not breaking a 52 yard TD run.

Pitchers that are as highly ranked as he was, get anywhere from 60-80%. Occasionally higher depending on individual situation.

I would figure Storz would be one to accept that free agent $20000
If it looks like he can contribute in football maybe it's PM's way of pushing him out like when Will Reese gave up baseball to go play basketball

Actually, I see this as more of a way for Mainieri to keep him around rather than push him out. He was contributing, and still has gas left in the tank to be a contributor at LSU.

And if working out with the football team unlocks some of the athleticism he showed as a HS prospect, it might positively impact his pitching as well.

Damn! Great ball skills and pretty good blocker too. After he dusts the cob webs off his football skills, he may actually see the field.

I find it hard to imagine he would throw Mainieri such a huge bone and give up an entire football scholly for a baseball player.

Storz has the size, he is an athlete, and he looked good in the film shown on OTB.
I trust O's opinion on running his team.
I wish Storz the best.

The thing to consider here is that football is going to be well below the 85.

You could easily put Storz on a full football scholarship and keep him around for a couple more years while he rounds back into form as a pitcher. If he's a camp body at tight end on the football team while he stays in shape, that doesn't hurt you at all.

This might be Orgeron's way of helping baseball some.

Well no shite. What a groundbreaking statement you just dropped on us. Thanks for that bit of wisdom you graciously shared with the Tiger Rant.

That's mighty kind of him if that happens.

Point is he has five free scholarships this year and he really can't fill them given the 25 man rule.

So it literally costs him nothing to carry Storz on the roster this coming year if he has any ability at all. He doesn't have to be good enough to play, though he might be.

Additionally, it's conceivable that a football strength training program might very well be copacetic with what he would need to continue strengthening his back and shoulder for pitching.

I wouldn't put it past these guys to work this kind of stuff out. You get that when your AD is active and has a clue about getting coaches to work together as opposed to wasting 300 bucks a night at Ruth's Chris on the company card.
