TJ Finley is still in college for the 2026 season—his seventh—due to the NCAA COVID-19 pandemic waiver for the 2020 season, which didn't count toward his eligibility, plus multiple medical hardship waivers for injuries in 2022 and 2024. He has used the NCAA transfer portal to move through seven schools, utilizing extra eligibility granted by these exceptions.

He is trying to say he should have gotten a Medical rs retroactively for his 2nd year. He had tonsillitis or whatever, issue is he still practiced and got beat out for the position.
They didn’t have medical red shirt rule in D 2 until 2025.

quote:shouldn't he go pro now? His draftability will never be higher. Sure, he'll get paid a lot to play another year in college, but the NFL contract will be a lot more.
Chambliss will get his TRO from the MS state court and will play for Ole Miss this year.

I think 2nd round NFL money is around $2M to 2.5M/yr. And 3rd round is maybe 1.5M to 2M.
Ole Miss is probably paying him $4M.
Of course, the sooner he goes pro the sooner he can work his way to true life changing money with that coveted 2nd NFL contract (if he believes in his skills enough to go now).

Frankly, I’d rather beat them with Chambliss and think we will.
OM barely beat an LSU team who struggled to break 200 total yards on offense. 2026 will be a blood bath, Chambliss or not.

That Colonel Sanders won't rule in Trinidad's favor because the Colonel's a Kentucky guy?

Funny how when people thought he was following Kiffin to LSU everybody was rooting for the kid and expecting him to get another year.

100% chance he plays for Ole Miss next season. Can't understand why people think otherwise

Does this guy really not think he's ready for the NFL? Or is he banking on increasing his drat position by having a year in a Pete Golding offense?
Seems crazy not to jump now.

He should go pro on a high note. No telling what next season holds for him with new HC and new OC

No, he’d be a for sure 1st rd pick. Maybe the first QB taken in this draft because the QB class is complete arse this year. This is what is blowing my mind as to why Chambliss is begging to play for Ole Miss another year.

Most people here, myself included, don't. Explain it to us like we're 3-year-olds.

I have to imagine part of his decision process is getting feedback from the NFL on his draft prospects. The fact that he’s still pursuing another year in college tells me he’s not getting a first or second round grade from them. If he were it would be financially irresponsible not to go pro.
However, if his options are to play at OM for $4-5m or hope he shows out at the combine and personal workouts and becomes a first or second rounder, then college is the safer bet.

I figured that was what you meant. I just wanted to drive home that point to show he didn’t lose anything due to the illness

No you’re wrong Colonel Sanders

I’ve got a feeling either Weeks, Dottery, or one of our edge guys might take Chambliss out the game in September with a devastating hit…

There are players entering their 6th year this season. TJ Finley is entering his SEVENTH. Chambliss has only actually played for 3 years. Other than the fact that it's Ole Miss and that we hate the Rebels, I really don't see what the big deal is.
There is some kid getting his 8th. Think it’s a LB for Miami.
