Hampton is staying with baseball for the rest of the season. And he’s arguably the 3rd best field player on this team talent wise behind Crews and Morgan

Hampton is here for the long haul in baseball. No spring football for him.
Good to hear

I’ve seen enough to make the comment I did above. If he isn’t playing football this spring then yes, give him an extended look see if he can handle CF and get his bat going in Gio’s absence.

Maybe now that we lost we can switch Morgan and Crews in the lineup.

I’d say they are on SLU’s level. Decent team. They were consistently in the tournament in the 90’s early 2000’s. And made it pretty far a couple times. But this oral roberts team is not close to those. They definitely should not have put 20+runs on LSU. We just had a bad day. It happens.

So take Bianco out. No problem.
Travinski to DH. Fine.
Then it’s Chinese checkers

It is. He doesn’t have a hit outside of those two HRs against Nicholls, one of which lost us our 2nd baseman.

Maybe. I've watched Morgan for a few years and never looked at him as a potential leadoff hitter at all, but he's had a different approach than I expected. Doughty hit leadoff a good bit last year and before this season. Crews at leadoff wasn't even used until right before the season. No matter who hits leadoff, we need to find someone that can get on base in the 9 hole - maybe that's Gio when he comes back.

It's still so damn early. I really don't expect the lineup to be settled until Gio and Doughty are healthy and we see how guys do for at least a few conference weekends.

I sure hope so. I can't stand superstitiously driven decisions to keep guys in places that don't maximize their productivity.

I also hope our pitchers can stop throwing meatballs over the plate with two strikes, when they aren't busy walking people.

Man it's hard to keep this game in perspective as just one game. That was embarrassing.

Thompson is finally showing signs of life, outside of hitting a ball over the fence once a week. His previous game, he had one hit, but also hit two or three balls really hard for outs, and then had a couple of hits today.

But there definitely needs to be consistency there. But we know Morgan can get on base, and so it makes too much sense to swap he and Crews to not do it. If the bottom of the order starts buzzing suddenly, and the coaches want to move Crews back to leadoff to get him more at bats, that's fine.

Milazzo hit a few balls hard today, too.
