Probably? LOL

They hung a banner for finishing second in the Western Division of the SEC in 2003. As soon as they made the playoffs, they were going to hang a banner, no matter the outcome....even if it said "OM 2025 Playoffs". It is just who they are. Hard to blame them since they haven't won anything at all in Football in 65 years.

I've been around 59 years now and one thing I have seen over and over, is a new coach coming in and winning with the recruits of a former coach....then said coach is given a big extension and raise...and within 2 to 3 years has the program on a downward trajectory because they couldn't maintain the roster. This will happen with Golding.

If they want to raid the staff and the roster of the worst team I have ever seen in 25 years, I for one am OK with that. I think we should be putting Ole Miss and Bama hoodies in all our players lockers sans a few.

You might be right, but it doesn’t change the fact that LSU was planning on overpaying Chambliss and Lacy as well and we failed to do that.

Because you still have to be financially sound. The reports are that Lacy will get $2mm from Ole Miss. that’s retarded money for a RB.

So what

My issue is that we continue to play nice with ole Miss while they clearly want to play hardball.

Pull the fricking coaches and if Weiss wants to stick around Oxford let them pay his buyout.
This is Lane’s team. He built it. He cares about it. He wants to see them win it all. Nothing wrong with that, and it’s actually admirable of him that he cares this much. It doesn’t fit their narrative of Lane abandoning them, so Ole Miss need to overtime to spin it.

You don’t overpay for Chambliss. He is by far the best QB available. You pay what you have to. A major win for them, no way to spin it otherwise.

IMO, he’d be an idiot not to go pro

They, along with three or four other SEC schools are what I call "once a decade" programs.

Once a decade they'll have a legit 10 win team. Maybe with a break or two they'll win 11 games.

And next year they're back to 7-5 or 8-4.

They hired guys who were involved in recruiting LSU players. It only stands to reason those guys would have connection with LSU players considering a transfer...just like it does with Ole Miss players considering a transfer to LSU. The only difference is OM is still playing while LSU isn't. Thus, their key players aren't in the portal yet.

How binding are the contracts with players? Couldn't Chambliss get his waiver and still go to LSU? No NCAA school wants to get involved with a breach of contract lawsuit with a player because they will all lose.

We’ve know that for a couple of weeks now. If we weren’t planning on paying that, not sure how we let Durham walk, but I guess the staff has different plans.

So what

Doesn’t mean anything but it’s why people are reacting the way they are. They had convinced themselves we would be able to take Ole Miss’ best players.

Well, looks like Chambliss is staying with them. That probably means Lacy stays also. All because our Asst. Coaches are helping Ole Miss and hurting LSU.

Right now, all we have is a WR from Hawaii. Meanwhile, Weis is game planning for Ole Miss and the other assistants don't know which way to turn.

Remember when you were telling everyone to panic because Weiss was going to stay at Ole Miss? Then that Weiss was going to the NFL?

The word melt is thrown around way too much on this board, but it absolutely applies to you.

I don’t think Durham’s value is all that high. Berry was way more prioritized and portal RB2 will be pretty easy to land.

Any LSU fan with half a brain realized that Chambliss was always nothing more than a pipe dream because of the uncertainty on whether or not he'd be granted another year of eligibility. How would we have made a legit effort to recruit him knowing there's a very good chance that the NCAA denies his waiver request for another year of eligibility. Then we'd be fricked because every other transfer QB would have signed elsewhere by then.

I think if Ole Miss would have lost to Georgia, that getting Lacy was a realistic possibility. But OM upsetting UGA threw a wrench in those plans because starters aren't going to jump into the portal while they're still alive in the playoffs.

Yeah, I remember it was an hour ago. Guess what? Now, it looks like Lacy is staying at Ole Miss. Looks like what you think is 'idiotic" turns out to happen.

No one knows what the Ole Miss players are doing. They have an extended period to enter the transfer portal since they’re still playing. Or do you honestly believe they will have zero players enter the portal?

Use your fricking brain for a minute.

All reports are that Chambliss and Lacy are staying at Ole Miss and I'm sure the WR will stay also. Lane was counting on those 3 to transfer and because our coaches are helping Ole Miss (and of course getting their bonuses) which hurts LSU.

Get your head out of the sand. Wake up!

Nothing has been said at all about Lacy. Not a word.

Stop fricking melting.
