I don’t think anything has been confirmed other than we sucked this past season. We did well in the portal last year. Kelly addressed the atrocious secondary and brought in 2 future all Americans. The offensive line was bad, but he brought in 2 relatively high ranked transfers in Thompson and Moore. We lost this past season on the field, not in the portal.

You mean Austin Thomas did pretty well in the portal….everything Kelly did was reactive and lacked planning and forethought….I will continue to assume his portal prowess lined up the same way

Pretty cemented now that you see he isn't coaching again. Not saying coaching at LSU ends careers, but our last 3 head coaches do not have jobs at the moment...

Kelly way outperformed expectations in year one. His issue was not his ability to get talent here; it was his inability to properly utilize that talent as a whole and keep players engaged.

Why would anyone believe that LSU would only go 8-4 next year when we went 7-6 this year.
Our offense was ranked
103-Total yds (Last in SEC)
103-PPG (Last in SEC)
104-Yards/play (15th in SEC)
110-Rushing (15th in SEC)
80-Passing (12 in SEC)
101- RZ Scoring (14th in SEC)

He did well his first year because of Daniel’s, Bernard Converse,Garner, the Arkansas guys. He did well last year on defensive side but shite the bed on offense.
Besides being arrogant, lazy, disinterested, crappy at hiring coaches, poor at roster management and evaluating talent he was okay.

The problem with Kelly is that he wouldn't adapt fast enough and wouldn't get LSU spending fast enough. Had he went to the boosters after that first season and let them know that we needed that big money in the portal for defense, we'd likely already have won a national championship 2 years ago. Kiffin is parlaying his Ole Miss success with LSU, and LSU boosters' thirst for success. Also, rev share is something Kelly didn't get a chance at like Kiffin is. Kiffin is mastering convincing many great players to play at the same position, but he's also spending a ridiculous amount of money doing it. This QB hual, which i love to death (thank you Longstreet and Clark for willing to be backups), is no less than 8 million dollars, and could be somewhere between 8.5-9 mill. I remember clearly when Jayden Daniels was leaked to be making less money than both starting tackles and Perkins during his heisman year. Most of his deals came from national brands that worked with him and a couple other kids from around the country.
The final thing that separates them clearly is that Kiffin won't get complacent. He seems to be one of those football guys that are relentless in their approach to the game. Hear me when I say this, LSU will be a mainstay in the top 5, not just top 10. I'm talking Ohio St, UGA, Saban Bama level.

"Did well in the portal" ? BK last year, took 9 transfers out of the portal. In his last year at O.Miss, CLK brought in 30 or so transfers. Close to 30 again this year.....so far. Those 4-5 OL stars he took in.........????
