Hitting: atrocious against shite competition
Fielding: pure slop
Pitching: credit where credit is due... starters have been stretching like they need to.... now the rest of it... massive blown innings, snow balling missteps...tons of pass balls.
"Its just baseball" covers a night where northwestern state hits ball that find grass everytime and your line drives find a glove... that happens.. it doesnt cover dropping 4 out of 5 against far inferior opponents and losing a whole series vs a warm up team.
Why dont you frick off and find a stoney brook player to high five

I don't run and panic because of preconference results unless every game looks the same. They haven't. For 2 weeks, we had the best offense in America. For 10 days, we have had a bad offense. The team has obvious talent that needs to step up. Pretty simple.

That said they are undoubtedly concerning no matter what your metric. This is beyond a this is baseball thing. We've seen us be horrible at every phase of the game and thats fricking concerning. This team has promise...you said it...and this has been the result thus far and its objectively embarassing to the program.

Jake Brown and Derek Curiel. That's it. Those are the only two players that actually care. The rest completely don't give a frick and would rather be anywhere else.

I do not think they are problems that will persist throughout the remainder of the year. That is why I get frustrated at these sky falling posts.
I think we are very talented. It's a long season. I am still confident in this group.

The NIL argument is the "climate change" of college sports excuses/arguments. It can't be conclusively proven because the supporting data is often just baseless hyperbole and conjecture...which makes is a great excuse when you are looking for one.
LSU is the defending national champion. At no university in America is college baseball more popular and it has been that way for several decades now. Thus, there is no logical reason to believe the funding just dried up or fell significantly behind competitors. This team is not playing well right now. Probably for a variety of reasons. But to chalk that up to LSU "not spending enough in NIL" flies in the face of reason.
But if that is the case, then blame Johnson. The HC is the head fundraiser. LSU, the athletic department, only contributes it's % of revenue sharing. There is ZERO limit on what private businesses and wealthy individuals can spend on NIL. If it is deficient, then the HC didn't do enough to generate those funds. And that is across the board in every sport at every university. Considering the success Johnson has had at LSU, and his individual success in recruiting players, I can't imagine Jay just decided to take this year off and spend the summer at the beach rather than courting donors. So logic would dictate this team had sufficient money to sign a good team. It's just not clicking right now.
