I walked on in '86 and hung around to pitch cage for Joey Belle, et al for over a year. The ONE thing I remember Skip telling me before he squeezed me off of the March roster was exactly this: "Son, EVERYONE on my team will make 99 out of every 100 defensive plays. And that extra 1%? they'll make 99% of those plays. Now you do the math and get back to the cage." I wasn't the second baseman walk-on he had in mind!

Nobody is giving Jay Johnson a pass. We simply understand that the problem we are seeing was recruited and created by Paul Maineri. Why do you think CPM was fired? This same group started SEC play 4-10 last year and Jay Johnson inherited it. Jay Johnson hasn’t had even 1 recruiting class but you want to hold him responsible for the play of a team he is juggling to find a mix that can be competitive with. I mean how stupid are some of you?
