and finally BK lost his enthusiasm for the game.
This. Not sure if it happened when he signed his guaranteed monster contract or after Daniel’s year 2 when the NC slipped away because of the defense.
Whenever it happened, he lost his fire and that was that.

He had Harry Hiestand, one of, if not the best, offensive line coaches in the game.

Its pretty clear kelly let his assistants coach without much interjection or direction from himself because he was checked out coming here. Brad Davis was a disaster and Kelly just let it happen.
Having the talent we had on the OL in 2024 (4 got drafted) and how poor that line performed should have been the obvious warning sign there to move on from Davis.

It seemed to be a mix of poor coaching and poor execution. Several of these points already made in this thread, but here are some factors:
Poor technique of playing high instead of low - affected both run and pass
Too many inexperienced players; only 1 starter from last year and he was bad
Mental mistakes - look at how often we failed to recognize defensive switches
We didn't seem to play as a unit; did our staff implement a scheme?
Kelly had a good Oline coach at Notre Dame and not here
Play calling was poor
Kelly didn't seem to have good work ethic; that trickles down to the staff

B) the whole blocking scheme is based off of RPO blocking, or way too much of it.
I think this is a large contributing factor.
Pass blocking is more passive with emphasis on positioning and footwork.
Run blocking is more aggressive making early contact and driving the defender out with leg and upper body strength.
The downfall of our run game was defenders controlling the line of scrimmage and penetration.

To me they all seemed 15-25 pounds to heavy. 325-340 looks good on paper. But 300-315 moves better and plays lower.

Terrible coaching, terrible scheme, terrible play calling.
When an opponent knows what you are doing, when the plays are marginal at best, and you lack one on one wins...you have pathetic results. Davis must have stunk, but this was a system failure.
I have said it 100s of times, but at some point this entire offensive staff watched practice film for hours and all must have thought. "yeah, this will work" The entire offensive staff and HC were culpable. Someone should have gotten fired due to subordinance at some point.

I wonder, now that we know Scott wouldn’t let him get rid of Brad Davis, if Kelly thought he could let Brads incompetence show and then he could get rid of him. Maybe that’s why Kelly was so disenfranchised the last year or two, he knew he was powerless to really fix the problem with Scott’s interference. Then when it came to a head, the day Kelly was fired, Scott got rid of Kelly instead of Davis.
I’m probably wrong but seems to fit some of what happened.

Don't have to spend much time sucking down those margaritas to stay perpetually drunk. I had one one night and it was so strong i'm pretty sure I should have carried one of those flammable hazard placards with me afterwards.

Well, he wouldn’t let them hit the sleds or make much contact in practice. That leads to the soft shite you saw on the field.

It’s hard for me to believe that they miss evaluated that many highly recruited guys. Listening to Flynn and Hester and eve Tbob during Brad Davis’ first year, it was coaching.
The only run game LSU had during the Brad Davis era was JD5.

Worst O line in recent LSU history
Shows you how much time he spent on the golf course this summer and how little he helped develop/make sure they were progressing
BK is a clown who straight up lied to the country about the talent on the Oline before the season started

Well that narrows it down, but it’s still a long list…
Could you be more specific?

Where did we go wrong in believing the BS that Kelly was shoveling to us?
Lots of Smoke and Mirrors in that man's mantra.

This is the perplexing thing, we got guys that we had to fight off the biggest schools in the country for, and we made chicken sh!t out of chicken salad.

And with the amount of turnover every year from players entering the portal, it’s almost impossible to keep any continuity on the line and gel as a group when you are having to try and replace 2-3 starters every year because big boy wants a bigger payday.
I can see future opportunities for linemen in the portal to negotiate as package deals.( just my imagination running, lol)
