I think they’ll try for Lane first and foremost. If he decides to stay at Ole Miss or go elsewhere, I think they turn to Drinkwitz.

Drinkwitz has had moderate success in the SEC and they might feel that with LSU’s resources, he could do well. I think they will focus on candidates with SEC experience this time around.

All of this is just a hunch and based on zero sources.

I’m not on board with Sumrall

Sumrall is the best we can do at this point. But I doubt it. It will be someone after that.

If Sumrall says no, then I would offer Petrino (assuming Arkansas does not snag him before that). If that does not work out, I will go for Frank Wilson. We can use the extra money to build a roster and assistant coaches. Sort of the EdO model.

We fired the winningest "Hall of Fame" active head coach and paid a $52 million buyout for this.

Bravo Governor! Bravo!

I’d be ok with taking a college coordinator as long as we do our homework. We can put him on a prove it incentive deal. You can do that with a coordinator.

Doesn’t matter at this point. LSU may very well wander in the wilderness for a period of time.

Little Landry made it clear that we won’t be paying a lot and no buyouts

Relax, Landry also said the taxpayers are on the hook for BKs contract and knows that isn’t the case. He’s a populist playing to the cameras and masses.

If Landry minimizes his involvement and requirements, LSU will hire well. If not, we will be lucky to get anyone who knows how to compete in the SEC.

I have little faith we can get a bigtime HC.

Getting ahead of yourself.

You need to be asking who LSU will realistically get as their AD.

All the talk about Saban possibly become coach. But what if he would want to be AD and influence the team like Bertman does Baseball?

Sumrall, Franklin or 95% of the names being thrown around, so who REALISTICALLY is an option for LSU???

Since you don't like 95% of the names mentioned so far and have shrunk the field down to 5%, how about you start by posting who you think will "realistically" be the next HFC at LSU.

And there is a board just for such topics.
