We won by 8. We didn’t blow them out. They are better than Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vandy, South Carolina, Missouri, and Tennessee. I could argue Auburn and Miss St too. They are a bowl team if they played in the SEC. Nobody knows what their record would be. They lost their starting QB and still gave us a game. If we lost our starting QB our offense would suck. People exxagerate the SEC dominance but really it’s Bama and a few capable teams and everyone else.

Only if they got to play the weak teams early in the year. They don't have depth to compete for an entire season at this level.

this, their d was physically beaten and gassed by the third

It depends long term about the money that will be backing them up and whether or not they can keep a quality coach. As a program they are still pretty young. I would not sleep on them though. Having Huepel as a head coach and Shannon at DC is not all that bad to have as a G5 team.

Right now they are not ready for consistent play at a P5 level....but if they go through next year winning the AAC in big fashion and take out either Pitt or Stanford, I think long term you have to pay attention

I would be paying attention, though to ARMY for the near future in the mid majors. They are well coached and they seem to have the triple option down pat. They took Oklahoma to the wire at Norman

I completely disagree with most SEC/LSU fans on UCF. I think with their starting QB, they are a top 10-15 team, and could beat the lower half of the SEC teams. Bama would beat them by whatever number they wanted. A motivated, fully loaded UGA, A&M, LSU and Florida could beat them with the same strategy used yesterday. Otherwise, they are better than this year's incomplete teams in the SEC like Auburn, State, Arky, OM, Mizzou, Tenn, and Vandy. So depending on scheduling, they could be above .500.

That team was coached well, and had good speed. The biggest difference was the inability to handle an SEC defensive line pass rush. A more mobile and experienced QB may have escaped or thrown the ball on time and avoided the rush.

I was surprised to see a team fighting for relevance play so dirty and thuggish though. #91's blindside, cheap shot on Burrow while celebrating with coaches on the sideline while Burrow was in pain on the turf was trash, and on top of that #44 got over and taunted Burrow while the training staff was on their way to attend to him.

The top 5 teams in the SEC went 4-1 and likely with Bama's win against Clemson 5-1. The SEC is still the most dominant conference in the country.

UGA got beat by Texas cause they didn't show up and Texas, to their credit, punched UGA in the mouth. If that game was rematched tomorrow, UGA would still be a big favorite in Vegas.

Every year half of the SEC will be down/incomplete. I think UCF would be about the 6-7 best team in the SEC, and that's not an insult. It's VERY impressive to say that in regards to a G5 team, and embarrassing for the lower half of the SEC who have tons of $$ and facilities.

LSU was playing with WRs at CB and down their starting and backup NG. LSU was missing 8 of 11 starters on defense at the end of the game, and were still mostly giving up yardage on pass interference penalties because our depleted, inexperienced secondary.

The SEC is still the SEC. LSU, UGA, A&M and Florida could all be competitive in the playoffs against OU and ND. As you said, Bama is on another level though, and Clemson is easily the second best team putting those two teams well ahead of every other program in the country.

Missouri would score 200 on them.

If they had to play the exact same depth chart numbers on defense that LSU had to play in the Fiesta bowl, LSU might still be scoring.

Missouri beat the 2nd best team in the AAC by 32.

Temple went 7-1 in the AAC and got drubbed by Duke & Boston College and friggin lost to Villanova.

Cincinatti lost 2 in the AAC and managed to beat a 6-6 VT team by a whole 4 points.

Memphis, who went to the AAC title game lost to 6-6 Wake Forest, and the aforementioned Missou game.

The AAC is light years behind the SEC and really, any other P5 conference. Most of the teams in the AAC are the teams that bad P5 teams schedule for homecoming. THAT is who UCF has been beating for 2 years.

Nice discussion and arguments both yes and no to the original question.

The premise of 3 SEC wins gives a 7-5 overall record with a chance for 8-5 with a bowl win. That is a good season playing an SEC schedule.

We were literally playing wide receivers at corner. We were without probably 6 of our best defensive players.

And we still more than doubled their yardage total aside from giving them 10 point off turnovers and settling for too many field goals as we have all year...we dominated them.

They would easily be in the lower tier of the SEC and shock some of the higher teams that took them lightly.

With Milton maybe but without him they probably go 2-6.

I don't think you realize how poor the LSU defense yesterday was relative to what it usually throws out there.

The team UCF played yesterday MIGHT win a game in the SEC.

Obviously, losing your QB is a big deal. But, that LSU team yesterday probably only wins 2 games in the SEC.

A full strength LSU team yesterday beats that UCF team (without Milton) by 30+ yesterday.
