This is even better. It was a 3-0 decision, and this is who appointed the judges:

The judges on the Manhattan panel were each appointed by a different president. Judge Jane Restani was appointed to the US Court of International Trade by President Ronald Reagan. Judge Gary Katzmann was appointed to the court by President Barack Obama. Judge Timothy Reif was appointed by President Trump.

Without using Grok, what should be included in a strong trade deal?

I've asked this like 6 times whenever people say trump is making deals and no one ever gives an answer.

Trump could cap health insurance company profits and the courts would strike it down.

While I was not anti tariff, this is further proof the markets prefer our government to be gridlocked. It is understandable, when the government cannot get stuff done, the people get done what they need to get done.

Yes silly - because he doesn’t have the constitutional authority to do that without congress. He’s not a dictator

Elimination of restrictions, subsidies, and tariffs albeit with compensatory actions for years of damage.

Jesus Christ this is unhinged. Think about what you’re actually asking other countries to do.

You want reparations because we bought shite.

But seriously if you want strong and lasting trade deals, call your congressman.

Lots of items have already increased in price due to tariffs. They won't be going back down even if tariffs stay blocked.

So we get tariff price increases without the tariffs too.

What a shiteshow this whole thing has been.

I always like the years of damage argument because the US has absolutely buttfricked the rest of the world when it comes to economic growth over the last 50 years.

The market pretty quickly realized this decision just adds to the uncertainty and timing of any tariffs and deals. Deals will likely get slow played now and tariffs are still coming, just under different sections now.

No.
The concept would be redress for years of bad faith actions by certain partners. E.g., BYD subsidies being presently used to price Tesla out of the Chinese market, after stealing Tesla tech and assembly processes there.

Given that dynamic, obviously willy nilly free access for BYD to US markets with elimination of restrictions, subsidies, and tariffs would not be appropriate.

But I am honestly confused about what authorities POTUS does and does not have.

When Biden increased Trump's steel tariffs, it seems to have been purely executive.
