I get uncomfortable with less than $10,000 in checking. I can have $6000 clear in a week sometimes so I like to have enough money in there to not go under a few thousand.

Depends on where you do your checking. I use a Fidelity cash management account for my checking, billpay, atm etc. The cash there sits in a Fidelity money market fund earning 5%. As I pay bills, make ATM withdrawals Fidelity will auto liquidate enough from the money market fund to cover the debit.
I keep a buffer of $5k on top of monthly expenses in that account.

Personal, over 10
Business, over 50
I get itchy if I get under that, but I could always pull some out of a money market account if needed

About 40K in my business account and about 70K in personal. It's all relative to how much you have other places though.

Dude no way, i keep 10 in checking, another 10 in a savings through the same bank, and another 20 in apple with 4.3%. When my checking goes under 10 i get stressed.
It's about liquidity, i can get 20k in minutes, 40k tomorrow, all the money in 3 or 4 days.

Same...debt free, about $2,500.00 checking [wife manages/household living expenses] and rest toward 2 savings accounts [one joint and one in my name which handles items such as property taxes, income taxes, annual insurance premiums]

Paycheck goes directly to checking account. I have an auto transfer that takes a certain amount out of my checking account each month and puts it into a HYSA. Checking usually rides anywhere between 10K and 15K. Once it gets closer to 15K I usually move a few thousand over to HYS.

Expenses fluctuate.
We keep about $15k on the high end after deposits.
Monthly expenses have hit over $10k before (with deposits coming in simultaneously, the balance gets down to between $7-8k).
The last car payment will be next month and then we are debt free (home is paid). Essentially once the wife's car is paid, we are saving for my next vehicle (I have 215,000 miles on an '07 Accord).
So the extra money in checking triples as "emergency money" and "6 months expenses" and "car fund".

I don’t think what you are doing is weird at all. I like to keep about $300-$500 in the checking account just in case I need to use Venmo or something.
All cash over that amount goes straight to my HELOC balance as soon as it hits the account.

We hover around $20k. Whenever it gets higher the extra goes into the money market.

Around 2 or 3 thousand after my big monthly expenses

3-4 months of expenses. Working on getting down to 2-3 months, or maybe even lower, but my anxiety is a son of a gun.
