Retire. He acted like he was going to do that after the end of the playoff loss, laughing and joking around with the Viqueens players before the replay even ended

Sorry, but I don’t care that a dentist ran a clown counterfeiting ring. It has very little impact on my life. Meanwhile, I am a sports fan and Saints fan and have had to deal with, in sports watching, constant inundation of a contrived, false narrative of police brutality and systemic racism in this country from a demographic disproportionately responsible for violence inflicted upon Americans. On top of the intellectually flimsy underpinning of the protest, we have had to deal with a method of protest that is viewed as disrespectful to many Americans.
Acknowledging any credence to the protest whatsoever grants undeserved legitimacy to the destruction of lives and/or property by BLM rioters, and our justice system could well have been damaged long term as well. So yes Brees is a bitch for bowing to the mob and it matters more to me than some felony that occurred long ago. Agree to disagree.

Definitely an alternative. I think that also makes him look like a sellout. It’s equal to giving up.

That said, Brees is the victim. If he stuck to his guns, the Saints on-field chemistry is gone, the team sinks to 5-11 or so. Players demand trades, front office and ownership has constant damage control, and the Saints become a focal point for the SJW movement. That last point probably makes the entire franchise virtue signal to the max.

Not surprising at all that you think someone saying they will stand for the flag is stupid.

Not surprising that a South Carolina fan doesn’t know a Heisman winner.

He just said he didn't think the anthem was the right time to protect and that it was disrespectful; not that they shouldn't be allowed to protest. Justice Ginsburg said something similar but no one cared

I agree, real Saints fans aren't going to forget the only pro sports title in the city and state's history and ushering in unquestionably the greatest era of Saints football in history.

Drop in on the Saints Talk link here & see what Saints's fans now think of Brees. He was a god there before he knelt to the mob. Whereas Cannon was loved while he was at LSU but he lost a lot of his luster, through no fault of his own , in the pros. But people in Baton Rouge who knew his background in B.R. were not surprised by his Federal arrest & prison time. As one example, he was a bouncer for the unions back when the unions were mob owned, i.e. he was known as a thug by many. His LSU rep kept him out of the public eye.

That’s the fault of the organization.
I don’t like politics in sports. I used to not even think of the flag as a ‘political’ statement. It’s shameful that it is.
I’m in the ‘shut up and dribble’ crowd. Athletes are entertainers. If I stand by that, I shouldn’t give a shite whether an athlete is SJW or MAGA, the latter of which I prefer. Drew’s character and actions speak louder than some bullshite statement his agent made him read. He may as well have had Taliban standing behind him.

Fair point. And it’s the reason I stopped watching them this year. Bunch of trash pieces of shite.

Well, I haven’t really watched sports content at all this year other than LSU football and my visits to sport clips or the dentist, so no issues here. I did watch the Astros before their boycott but haven’t really tuned in since. Keeping up my COVID lockdown momentum by picking up my guitar way more these days and reading a lot more than I have in quite some time

No, he was being subjected to a national media-driven, full court hate fest and his family was inundated with death threats all for saying he didn't agree with protesting the anthem. Why would anyone of any race want an apology for something so trivial? He took the cowardly way out and apologized for having an opinion. He's a bitch
