Almost everyone on this site has an issue with Dabo and how he has been in the past.

I think almost everyone agrees with him on this. CFB is out of control and not in a good way

Isn't that what most of college football thinks of him anyway?

Maybe so. But if I’m a Clemson fan I hate hearing him say this.

It is…but refusing to play the game doesn’t get you anything

I don't have any "issue" with him other than that he's overrated as absolute hell and comes off as a phony fraud. I'm sure he's an ok dude though.

well yeah anyone with two brain cells has already realized this a long time ago. The only people pumped about the current state of the game are teenagers that now get to see NCAA video games played out in real life essentially.

Few have anything remotely similar to his platform, and yes, we all know Clemson has been irrelevant the past few years. I'm certainly not a fan, but it's an apt analogy in a culture that values, and even worships, very short reads.

Oh how I would love for LSU/Clemson to look similar to the 2025 Oregon/Oklahoma State game - one team heavily bought into the portal versus another that wanted nothing to do with it.

I think it’s all fun as hell. Drama all the time.

Dabo needs to get off his high horse… he know damn well Watson, Watkins, and plenty more didn’t play for Clemson for free

Dabo and Hugh Freeze are prophets sent to earth by God himself

If I were a major college HC and wanted to hang on to my eight figure job, I would not say anything negative publicly about the portal or NIL or revshare or whatever.

I would want prospective players to think I love throwing money around and all that jazz.

Funneling money through a church to recruits in his heyday would tend to make one feel that way. He better watch that high horse before its legs break.

You either embrace the chaos or get ready to collect the buyout $.
He knows what’s around the corner from his fan base

I've talked to a couple of Clemson Alums and they both said Dabo deserves to stay there as long as he wants. I'm sure that can change and that they may not be representative of the fanbase, and particularly the monied boosters, but I get that old Georgia vibe from when Richt was there. That "we're above all this rabble, we do it the right way" aloofness.

He took Clemson from being a perennial NC State to almost a dynasty. 4 National Championship games w/ 2 Titles and few more playoff appearances. I don’t know how you fire someone and then place a statue of him out front of the stadium. He’s the Bobby Bowden of Clemson.

That is true, but…

1. Clemson hired him as a WR coach in 2003 when he had been out of coaching for two years selling commercial real estate. He was canned along with DuBose’s staff at Alabama after the 2000 season debacle.

2. Clemson hired him as HC in 2008 when he had never been anything but a WR coach under fired head coaches. He could have easily been flushed out with Tommy Bowden. If that had happened, it would have been a long road to national championship success for him as a HC, if it ever happened at all.

3. Clemson stood by him through some early struggles, including a five game losing streak to USCe.

4. Clemson stepped up to the plate and invested a lot of money in the program to make it a winner. Clemson’s staff has been among the highest paid in the country for a long time now, much was put into facilities, and Dabo was rewarded with a nine figure contract. The 2015-2020 playoff success doesn’t happen without that.

Dabo has had unprecedented success at Clemson, BUT Clemson has paid for it too. And any “discount” Clemson got in Dabo’s early success is balanced by the fact that now they’re paying a top five coaching salary for mediocre results. In other words. if he was underpaid before he’s overpaid now.

All this to say that I don’t think Clemson owes Dabo shite other than his buyout. They have done just as much for him as he has for them. If a day comes when the PTB feel a change is needed, then they should make it.
