Far easier to just pay for a sure thing
I dont blame them

Wouldn’t that depend on the legal language of the contract? Wouldn’t the schools be smart enough to do that already?

Cristobal's track record shows that he can't develop QB's that he signed out of HS. The rest of their QB depth chat is bad. Without Mensah they'd probably lose 3 games next year, even in the crappy ACC.

The schools have got to have a way to enforce these contracts. The players should not have a loophole of unenrolling and reenrolling elsewhere to game the system.
Anytime the NCAA tries to enforce, well pretty much anything...some shithead lawyers up and sues them, and an even bigger shithead judge goes along with it.
It's funny that for decades people despised the NCAA for enforcing the rules that were on the books, but now we'd give anything to have them be able to do just that.

When Mensah was at Tulane, I thought he looked like Sheduer Sanders, but just wasn't getting the pub like Sanders was getting.
I felt bad for Tulane, but was happy for Mensah that he got premium pay when he left for Duke, but I still thought he should've went to a bigger stage. Now, he'll get his chance at Miami and the lazy Cam Ward comparisons are sure to follow. He's closer to Shedeur.

Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels and whoever starts for LSU next year.

Point of academic order: How is Mensah going to earn academic credits this semester if he is ...between universities? Are student athletes no longer required to pass a certain number of hours to participate in sports the following semester? Or am I remembering ancient history?
When was the last time you can recall hearing about a player being academically ineligible? Been awhile hasn’t it. Funny how it all works now

How is the professional G League basketball player who hasn't taken a college class in a couple of years eligilble to play midseason for Alabama?
Just have to find an Alabama booster as a judge, I guess.

On the other hand, pay for a proven QB with college snaps.

No
Arch & Underwood are outliers
It’s possible to get these guys in the building without paying them top dollar. Ask Kiffin

but Cristobal has received basically no criticism for clearly tampering with Mensah.
These college teams have front offices like the NFL now… very possible he’s just there to coach the team now and not even be kept in the loop on who they’re gonna get

They have complete freedom to move anywhere for the highest dollar. Why would they agree to any restrictions?
This is where all the P4 colleges collude and lock the players out. No college football = no NIL. Players have to come to the table to get paid again

I still don’t know how they make NIL tax exempt.

Yep. FSU went out and hired a GM because Mike Norvell still thinks that clapping and doing the cash hands thing every 3rd down defense is enough to win. To be fair though in just a few years college football coaching went from schemes, motivation, and recruiting to being a lawyer, accountant, and used car salesman all at once.

Mensah just transferred to Miami and brought his top WR from Duke with him.
Canes are loaded for 26.

Yea but that's illegal.

Every player on every team is a one year rental. Makes more sense to stop recruiting HS players altogether

That guy had already returned to school and was enrolled in classes.
There is no football right now. Mensah can take online courses this spring, then enroll full-time in the summer or fall. Even then, most of his classes will probably be online based.
