I think the precedent set by allowing your hometown judge to overrule the NCAA regarding eligibility basically forced the NCAA's hand.

Maybe they should've followed their own rules and they wouldn't be in this position.

As it should. What a farce

He’s an idiot not coming out in this draft. He’s probably the second QB off the board. He really must not want to play for the Jets.

Hot take: I hope the NCAA wins.

The place QB prospects go to die.

Didn’t the judge get Chambliss to autograph something for him after the ruling?

Sucks for him that this is the time the NCAA finally decides to put a fight.

I feel like there's more at play here than just "loving ole miss". I'd bet he's already spent the NIL money and if he leaves now, he'd have to pay it back with his NFL salary next year.
No agent worth their salt would advise their client to pass on the weakest QB class in a decade plus to stay in Oxford for an easy buck.

what rule did they not follow?
an athlete has 5 years to play 4 seasons.
Trinidad did that
2021
2022
2023
2024
2025
an athlete MAY be eligible for a medical redshirt.
not Guaranteed to get it.
so again, what rule did they NOT follow?

Good. It's ridiculous that a local judge, who is a fan, can rule on his favorite team's players' eligibility.

Unfortunately we've just replaced the hometown judge with the hometown Supreme Court
Here's your 7 justices
JD / BA Ole Miss
JD / BA Ole Miss
JD Ole Miss

JD Ole Miss
BA Ole Miss
BA Mississippi State
Bonus - the State alum's grandfather was also in the KKK. The bodies of the 3 civil rights workers killed in 1964 in Neshoba were actually found buried on his property. This is a 6-1 ruling if there ever was one
Though mad props to the NCAA for staring futility in the face and still putting together 658 pages

The problem is that now the ruling will have precedential value. A rogue trial court doing stupid shite is something a legal system can sustain. This will have an impact on all future restraining order law in MS moving forward OR the ruling will be drawn so narrow that I imagine they'll create larger due process issues moving forward.
Is the Supreme Court of a state going to risk invalidating their state's legal system to pw3n the NCAA and help Ole Miss?

Mississippi is voting to eliminate income tax on NIL money so they can recruit football players.
Of course they’re willing to set legal precedent to help Ole Miss football.

They need to change the rules to an athlete has 5 years and remove redshirts - no exceptions. The exceptions and allowing things for one person while not allowing it for someone else even when it is substantially similar is what got them into this.

If the NCAA loses again could they appeal to a federal court?

Really, they need to require the application for the redshirt within a reasonable period of time. I would say before the end of the semester that is one year after the semester in which he is claiming the redshirt, with contemporaneous evidence.
So, for instance, for Chamblis to claim the 2022 season as a medical redshirt, he would have had to file by the fall of 2023 under those rules.

Well the agent gets paid more if he stays

Trinidad is getting some dog shite advise unfortunately. But he plays for Ole Miss so I don’t care if he makes horrible decisions.
