The 49ers being the most injury prone team is probably due to electrical substation sound

- The thread by @living_energy attributes the San Francisco 49ers' elevated soft-tissue injury rates since relocating to Levi's Stadium in 2014—such as 7-8 Achilles/patellar ruptures and over 40 major hamstring tears, far exceeding league averages—to chronic exposure to extremely low-frequency (ELF) magnetic fields from an adjacent 60 kV electrical substation, with gaussmeter readings of 8.5+ milligauss on practice fields versus typical 0.5-3 milligauss backgrounds.
- Player Jon Feliciano publicly noted in early 2025 that teammates have joked about the substation contributing to injuries, aligning with the team's league-leading 2,036 games missed due to injury since 2017, as corroborated by NFL data sources like Fantasy Points and ESPN injury reports.
- While peer-reviewed studies often show pulsed electromagnetic fields enhancing collagen synthesis and tendon healing (e.g., a 2018 study in Bioelectromagnetics found increased metabolism and collagen in tendon cells), the post cites critiques like the 2022 ICBE-EMF review in Environmental Health arguing that regulatory guidelines overlook non-thermal ELF effects, such as potential mitochondrial disruption leading to collagen degradation in chronic exposure scenarios.

Zion Williamson probably shouldn't have built his house right next to one I guess

The National Magnet Lab (the largest & highest-powered magnet lab in the world) is a little over 2 miles from Doak Campbell. Kind of makes you think.

DeMeco Ryan’s is a 49ers guy and now head coach of the Texans. I feel like his players are always getting injured too.

Are one of these places next to the Smoothie King Center or on Airline Drive?

Not at the current practice facility but there is a large one looking at Google Earth by the old facility.

More injuries are due to artificial turf than all the ELFs in the world combined. They need to start there.

This sounds right. Although I did have an edible an hour ago...

If everyone played on grass what would you blame the injuries on?

Saints' old facility off David Dr was right next to a big power station HMMM

Just saying, I have a pocket TENS machine, that shoots electrical pulses on a gel pad to your muscles, and that helped repair, not hurt repair. Prob not the same, but its what I thought here.
