And that's why you go to a movie called Godzilla X Kong... for fun... certainly not for some in depth plot, deep character building and CERTAINLY not for the humans.

It's a completely different type of movie than Godzilla X Kong.

To me, Godzilla Minus One is like.... 1954 Godzilla. The bad guy in the movie that is representative of something else, War or Nukes or whatever.

GxK is like some of the later Godzilla movies like Godzilla Final Wars or something... just fun. Or Godzilla vs. aliens. They don't "make sense", they are just... fun, campy movies.

Once they actually went into the hollow Earth the franchise was done.

If you can just wonder over the CGI and shut off your brain, it’s dazzling. But as a story it’s a mess.

I enjoy a good action/monster movie. Loved Godzilla since I was a kid. It wasn’t bad for that, but they’ve diverted hard from the tone of the 2014 movie. Minus One was easily the best since the original and ‘85. It was a damn good movie. This one was ridiculous, but that’s kind of how it turned out. “Baby Godzilla” was a thing before Baby Yoda and Baby Kong.

I wasn't able to finish this movie. It seems like the only purpose is the visual spectacle.

I might try to finish it one day but i wasn't invested in anything going on.

I did wish they wouldve shown how they inserted a new tooth in Kong. They showed them pull the tooth and the next time they showed him there was a new tooth in that spot.

It’s such a mess and they kill so many people in Rio that it’s funny

I wish they had a civilian death count in all these movies (Godzilla, Marvel, etc).

The CG was laughably bad, like most everything else in this movie

I finally watched it myself Sunday, It was really bad, but I love Godzilla movies, and I was childishly amused.

Funny part was when Kong popped up in Egypt and was holding his arms out to Godzilla like - "No, bro wait a second I'm not here to fight you".

Dan Steven's character "Trapper" might be the cringiest character in film history. Holy shite, he's bad.

We watched it on Max the other day (July 4th). I thought it was ok; and let me put that in context.

My central AC is out and will be until the end of the week when I get the system replaced. I have 3 portable ACs running because a) it's what I had access to, and b) my living room windows aren't large enough for a decent window unit. I have those ACs, and several of the large coiled fans, and a few box fans. I watched this in a room with a portable AC and 2 large fans, where the fan noise is very loud. My normal volume settings, I can't hear ANYTHING. Even cranked up, I just got boom explosions, some music, an occasional hint of a voice if someone yelled. Zero dialogue, and I didn't turn on closed captions. So I have zero insight into the plot, beyond what I could figure out from the visuals

Baby kong was a little (giant?) shite, and only flipped to Kong's side because he didn't like the bad alt-Kong pushing that other one into the fire.
Godzilla generally gives no fricks, but decided he needed to power up to neon pink dayglo for some reason, the freeze zilla maybe? Freeze zilla was only bad because evil alt-kong had a shock collar on it. Once free it turned on it's master. Mothra seems to get Godzilla to not immediately kill other monsters, ... and seems to be a go-between for Godzilla and humans.
Godzilla likes to nap in the Colosseum, so I guess he considers large stadiums his Air BnB. Domes are safe, but SEC stadiums would be an option.

Note- if he came and chilled at Tiger Stadium, it would significantly improve the surrounding neighborhood.

The amount of people killed by sky beams or monsters in the last decade and a half has to be in the billions

Hmm…I’m not sure where I’d rank “The Return of Godzilla,” but I’d take “Godzilla vs. Biollante” over it.

Anyway, on the topic, I’ve only watched “The New Empire” once, and I didn’t care for it much. Many of my complaints are the same as what other posters have already said, and I even enjoy the truly silly films like “Megalon” and “Gigan.” I think a lot of my issue with the Legendary movies is disappointment in the route they went with world building starting with “King of the Monsters.”

I initially didn’t care for 2014 much when I saw it, but “Skull Island” and knowing they were building up to Godzilla vs. Kong made me like 2014 more. Of all the MonsterVerse films, “Kong: Skull Island” is probably the best.

So, I’ve kind of been disappointed in the entries since then, and as of now “The New Empire” may be the “worst” of the bunch.

My God, that movie is AWFUL.

Finally got around to rewatching it, and yeah, it's pretty bad.

At first, I kinda just went with the story, to see where it all was headed, but I found myself taking multiple breaks - to the rest room, to the concession stand, etc...

Nothing kept my attention in this one.

And when I got a chance to see it on MAX, I had no interest in seeing it all over again. I just FF to the parts where I knew I had dipped out.

Worst part of the movie is all the dialogue from the tribe, they were annoying.

Good Lord I didn’t even enjoy this one while drunk.

Godzilla and Kong have lost all sense of scale. fricking video game characters

Go back to Godzilla (2014), hell even Kong in Skull Island had a little bit of scale

Godzilla swan diving off the rock of Gibraltar lol then running a 4.2 40 in hollow earth charging scat king with Kong on his back.

Zero explanation for why he’s pink now, what a nose dive this franchise took. So much potential too, oh well

This movie fricking sucks!
