Oh yeah, Solo had amazing memorable characters and performances. I totally remember the name of the actor who played Han and the character that Woody Harrelson played. Totally.

The majority of this board jumps at every chance to take it down a peg while the majority of Star Wars fans liked TLJ.
I say the following without an ounce of hyperbole:
I’ve never met a person IRL that likes tLJ.
My dad who is politically unaware of movies hated it. Lifelong SW fan.
My kids who love Star Wars and have no understanding of any politics hated it.
My movie buff friend (quite literally has a masters in film) who is pretty leftwing hated it.
My sister who is a died in the wool SJW Bernie supporter hated it.
None of the guys I see movies with liked it.
It has a less than 50% audience score.
I laugh at your premise.

I found Han in IV and V a little more jaded and selfish than aloof, as portrayed in Solo. Maybe Solo II will fix that.
TLJ was one of the worst sci-ti movies in history.
TFA was a cop-out that pretty much ended my star wars journey.

I don't remember the ending. Completely forgettable.

I thought Solo was one of the best Star Wars movie in a while.
Love how it ended- Han shot first.

I think that was kinda the point. They're supposed to be nameless faceless and unremarkable nobodies. You know, just regular old rank and file grunts who die in the course of war, unforgotten except by their family.
They're not supposed to be Han Solo flying in to spread his charisma around to save the day or Luke Skywalker running in, saber blazing and bleeding goodness everywhere to defeat evil.
They're supposed to be utterly forgettable: the everymen that quietly and knowingly die by the millions to win wars, covered in blood and grime on foreign shores alone except for their comrades in arms. That was the story Rogue One told. Rogue One's characters are not the generals that get the acclaim and medals when the time for dying is over and it's time to tell the story. They already got their movies.

Opine was able to salvage a decent movie. It’s fun and has a few Star Wars moments. I liked that they didn’t try to make the guy playing Han do a Harrison Ford impression, because Pratt might be the only guy around right now that could pull that off and not look foolish.
But the reception and performance were the fans response to TLJ and the outright calling out of the fans by Johnson and Kennedy. I still haven’t forced myself to watch it again since seeing it on opening night.

The hatred of TFA mostly started after TLJ. Most people liked it when it came out. Most people still do like it.
TLJ is liked more by casual Star Wars fans. It’s an entertaining enough movie if you aren’t concerned about the characters or the stars wars universe.

Ha yeah while the cartoons had an interesting plot with Darth Maul, Savage Oppress, Ventress, etc., the appearance of Maul at the end was a stretch. He was sawed in half decades prior. I thought that was just the writers needlessly throwing a bone to some SW fans.
Rebels and Clone Wars are canon. Disney is even making new episodes. Maul survived by channeling his hatred of Obi-wan to keep him alive.

I finally got around to seeing Solo. I really liked it. It was tons of fun and I felt I was watching a Star Wars movie again.

The problem is they should've made the movie about a different character. Alot of the hatred Solo gets, and rightfully so, is due to the stupid shoehorned nonsense they jammed in there to make it a solo movie.
How he got his name
How chewy got his name
How they became friends
Danny Glovers every cringe worthy scene
Etc...
The movie would've worked well as a heist movie set in the star wars universe. But they needed the name recognition for whatever reason. It sucked as a Solo backstory movie because it was full of predictable nonsense and eye roll moments. And it took every single thing about Han Solo's life and compressed it into a few weeks worth of time. That's almost always what happens when this type of movie is made

Eh, that's nitpicking. It didn't ruin the Star Wars Universe like the TLJ. It was just a really fun Star Wars movie. Probably my favorite since the originals.

Solo is easily the best of the Disney Wars movies.
I agree. Its ok to have fun watching these type of movies. Rogue One forgot that. The others are really bad. I'm still laughing at fake Carrie Fisher flying through space, but i don't think they meant it as a joke.

If you haven't seen Rogue One yet, I'd see that next because that's the best Disney has done by far with these movies. If some part of you wants to see SW suffer beyond repair.... give TLJ a shot

Solo was ok. Not great, not bad, ok.
It felt like a higher budget (but surprisingly, not by that much) episode of Firefly, more than a SW movie.
Now, that isn't a bad thing at all, as I have always been interested in the Star Wars universe beyond The Force. And saying you can swap Han Solo out for Mal Reynolds, that isn't a stretch either.
I agree with the complaints that they tried to shove every significant part of his lore into the film, that was overdone. And the name part was awful- did Watto see baby Anakin levitate, and call the slave family Skywalker, too?
The problems were several- the actor works fine as a Mal Reynolds, actually, but not a Han Solo. They should have looked further and found someone who resembled Harrison Ford... or they should have made a Firefly movie.
And also, there was a tremendous amount of hatred after TLJ, and your target audience boycotted it.

I liked Solo but it was also sort of forgettable and I was bored at times.
And Maul absolutely should stay dead. He didn’t suffer a flesh would he was sliced in half and fell down a hole.
