just bought the audio book on audible a few days ago, but haven’t started it yet. I heard it’s terrific.
The voice actor is fantastic for the audio book. Like wonderful. Same guy that does all the Terminal List books.

I’m a big audiobook guy mostly because my walks and commute are the only book time I have. I’m ultimately aware that physical reading allows you to fully create your own “universe” for a book and that is almost always superior.
With that said, I’m halfway through this book and I’m so happy it’s the audiobook. It’s a fantastic performance and tbe communication with Rocky is greatly enhanced.

A lot more earth scenes than I was expecting
I just finished the book today due to watching the trailer earlier this month. I absolutely loved it. I purposely avoided most of this thread to avoid spoilers. So, now that I watched the trailer again with the book very fresh in my mind, I think almost all of the Earth scenes appear to be in the book. I was consciously trying to think of what was actually happening in each scene while watching. I also think a lot of them are happening in one scene in the movie but spaced out in the trailer. So, based on the trailer, it doesn't seem like they are adding anything to the Earth scenes.

I just finished listening to it again. Speaking of the Earth scenes, I don’t think they could have found a better actress to portray Stratt.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but these two were awesome!
Hig somehow survived the flu pandemic that killed everyone he knows. Now his wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in the hangar of a small abandoned airport with his dog, Jasper, and a mercurial, gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley.
But when a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside him that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail, only to find something that is both better and worse than anything he could ever hope for.

I didn't watch the trailer when it first came out because the comment from people sharing it was, "I can't believe they showed..."
Now that I've read the book, and seen the trailer, my biggest shock is that the Olesya Ilyukhina character is going to be played by Milana (Lily from AT&T) Vayntrub. She's going from not being able to get a Squirrel Girl movie off of the ground to portraying a leading materials engineer in an Oscar buzz film.
The trailer looks pretty spot-on, though the ship designs look different (especially from how I pictured the larger ship).
Really looking forward to the movie. I suggested the audio book to my wife based on the board's suggestion, she agreed that it's one of the best audio book performances ever. I read the physical book.

I finally started listening - (don't get me started on reading versus listening) - and holy moly...

I struggled and got bogged Down with the astrophysics of some of the book but getting past that, it’s one of the best endings to a book I can recall. It has stuck with me for months after
Really excited for the movie

My body is ready!!!!
I kinda wish it was a series on Hulu or something so they could include every word of the novel. But beggars can't be choosers.

Well, there's Rocky. 99% of the stuff looks great, but the redo of the Hail Mary design doesn't seem to be conducive to the centrifuge mode.

Yeah the new trailer in the OP shows an awful lot, but nothing that I wasn't expecting.
I did just recently buy the book though. If it's half as good as The Martian I'll love it. I don't enjoy reading too often (I prefer reading for knowledge/information than fiction), but am getting more and more into it as I've gotten older. But I did read The Martian and liked it so much I ended up eventually reading it twice. Incredible book.

PHM is just as good of a book as The Martian. I like Martian better because I love books on Mars, but PHM was still very good. Weir can for sure write some books that are hard to put down.
Light PHM book (and probably movie) spoilers ahead:
At first, I hated the time jumps back and forth in PHM, but once it was revealed how Grace ended up on the ship, I got why the time jumps were necessary.
Rocky looks pretty close to how I envisioned him. He's a little chunkier than and I had in mind, but close.

I'm just not watching trailers at this point. I've read the book so it doesn't matter but they are getting out of hand

agreed. the time jumps actually make for a great reveal.
I'm trying to find the cinematic Champagne Supernova version that was in this and in the Electric State, but I can't really find it anywhere. I really like it more than the original
this is the closest where they just edit out the dialogue in the trailer
