Imo the absolute worse case scenario is trading Zion and watching him dominate in Charlotte and the Hornets be a better team than us

Your confidence is astounding. The worst case scenario is we keep Zion and he never plays any substantial time for us. So we never get any value from/for him.

He has played less than 30 games the past 2 seasons due to multiple injuries and a lack on conditioning/effort (self admitted). I'm encouraged anybody wants him at all.

I am curious about this dichotomy. How many different styles of organization are there? Who should we be modeling ourselves after, that handled a similar situation that way?

Small market, big market, market that'll never get a max contract free agent, market that'll never get a max contract via trade even.

You think the Pels realistically have the same avenues to get max level players as any other team?

My big concern is how Zion is fitting in with the team. If he is not fitting in then I would move him to the East, get Scoot, some addituonal talent, some cap space and a bunch of pick swaps. If I am another team I am worried he is a bust.

I feel like Charlotte would take a chance on him because of their organization.

I don't want max level players. We had 3 over the past 15 years and haven't won shite with them. I'd be happy with good players that gave a shite and were happy to play.

Everybody keeps saying this is how we win championships, when we can't consistently make the playoffs or even have a winning record. At some point people have to come to the realization that we need to follow a different model.

I appreciate the response. But who has navigated a similar situation and have been successful? Who should we be modeling?

You see what Gobert went for? Zion is a shitload better than him.

Number two in this draft, the right to draft Scoot who has comps of D Rose and Westbrook (two MVPs) is better than anything given for Gobert. It’s not even close.

There is no chronic injury with Zion unless you count his weight.

He’s a near 300 lb player at 6’6” with foot, hamstring, and knee injuries. It’s not going to be pretty. You can’t just magically disregard his weight unless he shows a complete willingness to cut to 260ish and stay there in a disciplined manner.

Unfortunately absolutely NOTHING about this dude gives the slightest indication of him being disciplined.

You wouldn’t take Zion for Scoot straight up? That feels like a slam dunk upgrade to me… don’t know how you can ask for an extra 1st on top

Probably so, especially if they interviewed Scoot and he is someone that really appears to fit the culture they want, which obviously Zion does not.

But that doesn’t mean you take pennies on the dollar for Zion. He’s still worth a lot more than just Scoot.

Then you don't want this franchise to compete for a championship. You absolutely need a max level star to do so. CP3 and AD both wanted out because the franchise didn't build a contending roster besides them, sans one season of CP3.

Cp3 left because of ownership issues at the time…AD left because he’s a
Bitch/beta and been sucking off lebron…but multiple max level talents are a must

When have we competed for a championship the past decade or so? Have we ever been a serious threat?

BS. Both had multiple seasons of great rosters, same as Zion. Always excuses..

His worth should be #2 and 2-3 firsts and a good player.

Considering how few draft picks work out this is probably about right

The recipient is gambling on an all star player (maybe mvp) staying healthy in a different city.

The Pelicans are likely gambling on one of those drafted players being less than that.

Young guys sleep around if they lack proper boundaries. The idea of trading Zion because of the most recent scandal seems like selling at his lowest possible trade value
