Definitely a yin yang right now. Willie knows these guys. With a fully healthy team, I'm looking forward to how he can build different rotations. the starting 5 is ridiculous. Zion, BI, and JV to start the game completely dominated. when herb and CJ can go under the radar, we will absolutely frick teams up.

Let's put basketball results aside. Since this franchise first got to New Orleans, it seemed like every free agent or high draft pick couldn't wait to get away from here. And when they arrived here they seemed bummed, to say the least. Maybe a few exceptions to that, but generally, that had been the vibe.

Since Green got here, I've never seen an NBA team as tight-knit as this squad we have now. And for the first time ever, we had guys like Hart actually be sad that they were leaving here and even came to our games to support us in the postseason when their season was over, even though they were playing for a different team. That's never happened to us before that I know of.

At the very least, Green is turning this into a place that people want to come to and not leave, and he did that in a very short amount of time. In the NBA landscape that is a very huge deal imo.

Not entirely accurate, Coach WG had the Pels playing .500 ball after the horrendous start. One of the reasons CJ wanted in on NOLA. After CJ arrived, the team kicked it to another level. Looks like Pels may get a similar boost with Zion. Coach WG has been a steady hand at the helm and shows an uncanny knack for getting the best from players. … Hold on to your hat looks like it’s going to be a heckuva ride

A lot of the vibes of this team is because of Willy, so plenty of credit to him. Also the front office looks really really good right now.

This. Willie deserves much of the credit.

People talk about alignment in the LSU athletic dept but the Team management and coaches for the Pels are even more aligned.

Don’t forget Swin. I don’t know what any of the front office does but the players are always giving shout outs to Swin. I feel like they have all made it like a family atmosphere over there.

To me it's a combination of WG being a calm steady hand, CJ getting guys to buy in and think differently, and the front office hitting on every draft pick in 2021 with Trey, Herb, & Alvarado in FA. That draft class alone cancels out 3 shitty ones. It's insane to think about really.

CJ can have his off nights, and that's fine bc he brings so much more than basketball to the team. Same with Nance. You needed guys like that in the locker room.
Front office has been ragged on like crazy in the past, but they deserve a lot of credit right about now.

A year ago this team was on the verge of fracturing and breaking apart for psychological/emotional reasons. Willie is the glue that kept things together until the team could start to win (and get all the positivity from that). Now the team seems bonded, friendly, and on the same page.

Willie deserves a LOT of credit

Agree but I also think Herb deserves a lot of the “glue” credit as well. His work ethic set an example and imo definitely rubbed off on the others. He was our one constant consistent player from game 1 thru the playoffs.

IMO, Griff deserves a ton of credit. His main goal when coming here was to establish a culture, and he seems to have done that.

Herb coming on strong and CJ bring a big voice and leader for Zion and the rest of the team. All of that combined with roster make up and great coaching has this team primed to make a run this year.

And the best part people, as in national media, may be forgetting is we have our team pretty much locked in for 2-3 more years. If things progress more like we see, I think Gayle will be willing to go further into the luxury tax.

Agreed

Graham was on pace to have more minutes than Jose until the late 4th but was pretty much a sieve on both ends when he entered the lineup yesterday.

Jose should have almost all the back up PG minutes going forward

Gotta give some love to our ladies Mrs. Benson and Swin Cash as well. God this organization has not one person I don’t like right now. The vibes are immaculate.

Jose was the first guard off the bench
DG didn’t enter the game until the 2nd
Naji came in for short minutes when herb got in foul trouble

all three played thru garbage time until dyson came in the last five

it’s about when they play and who they play with more than total minutes. I thought the rotations were outstanding last night especially CJ & zion in/out together

I've been one of the loudest when it comes to not liking Griff since he came here.

he's obviously done some dumb things (no ones perfect), but as Epic said, he has been saying since day one that he wanted to establish a certain culture here, and i think that mission has been accomplished.
He struck out with SVG, but he showed the balls to get rid of him quickly and move on to someone better. That's not an easy thing to do, and i applaud him for that.

Outside of Willie, he's compiled a great staff to enforce the culture he's looking for. The amount of praise we hear constantly about TSpoon is awesome. Making sure Vinson stays on the staff, brining in one of the best trainers in the league in Aaron Nelson, keeping guys like Temple and Willy around to help keep a certain comradery within the team, etc.

Griff has done a lot of things right recently, and has been quick to right the wrongs he does. That last part is what i am loving about him more than anything. We drafted Hayes on pure potential, and since then you haven't seen us draft anyone like him. Everyone we've drafted or picked up since, Kira, Naji, Trey, Herb, Jose, Dyson, Liddell, all of them are high quality people who were known as extremely hard workers in college. You're not going to find a clip of any of those kids doing something stupid one night in the offseason and getting arrested.

This family environment of high quality human beings that Griff has assembled between the staff and players is contagious and makes anyone envious to be a part of, whether you're a player, coach, or a fan.

I tip my hat to you Griff, after i've said many a mean things about you.
and yes Willie gets a ton of credit for what's happening. Griff can only get the right people in the building, but he's not the one who's front and center of living that culture every day, Willie is.
