What’s your confidence level in Zion?

I love what I have seen when he has played, but I am just scarred by his injuries.
Do you feel he is still worth more on our roster than in a trade?
Is it a gamble and is it worth the risk? Great news right now is that we have a roster that can overcome his absences, but how many more injuries until he loses all trade value?

If he continues to stay in shape and not have his mom as his nutritionist, I’m all in

quote:Not really because it was the obvious play, and yes worth the risk.

I have 100% confidence in Zion the player. He is very good. Skilled, smart and excellent feel for the game overall. His habits have been trending in the right direction.
If he truly gets to that 265 weight number that is the goal, I am at the 90/10 range in terms of him shaking the injury bug. If he remains in the 285-305 window he’s spent most of his nba career in, the injury bug will likely remain a 50/50 proposition.

3.5/10
Yes. It is worth the risk. Also an exec would ruin his career if Zion got traded and became a megastar. Never be able to live that down. If Zion fails cause of injury, then nobody is getting blamed. Better off keeping him and hoping he comes around..

His injuries, or rather games missed, come with a lot of asterisks. I'm not saying his injury history is good, but the numbers leave out a lot of context that make it seem worse than it is.
- His rookie season the team was overly cautious holding him out much longer than anyone expected in a season where the only thing to play for was Uncle Al's job.
- His 2nd season the team shut down Zion and BI the last 6 games to tank. Give him those 6 games and he'd have played 67 out of 72 games. That translates to 76 games in an 82 game season.
- Last season the rumors are that he didn't take his rehab or fitness seriously enough. Maybe if he had done what he did in December, go to a special facility and live in a pool, all the way back in August, he could have been ready by January.
The key question is has Zion turned a corner in terms of his commitment to staying fit and minimizing his injury risk. He's saying and doing all of the right things now, from looking the best he's ever looked as a Pel to hiring professional chefs.
With what we're seeing we have no reason to believe he won't keep moving forward. If we see signs of back sliding, like he gets fat again, then maybe it's time to be concerned, but unless that happens it feels like he's better prepared to play.

Worth way more with us. He can win you a title. He's baby Shaq with more finesse and athleticism.

My confidence level?
Last week, I bet $50 on Zion to win MVP. The league is in trouble.

Went back and watched his debut highlights against the Spurs where he nailed 4 threes in a row.. We make alot of fat jokes, but I honestly forgot how chunky he looked that game and was still the most dominant player on the floor. 22/7/3 in 18 minutes on 100% 3P shooting in a debut was insane.
Five months ago, might have had a different opinion with all the media silence and rumors.
Getting CJ to this team did wonders.
quote:Yes.. Especially now that he appears to be bought in.

My confidence level in most things off court is pretty high. He seems to have matured and really figured out "how to be an NBA player." I guess my two big questions are, the health obviously, and does he buy in defensively?
We haven't seem him display the talent defensively he did at Duke where he could defend multiple positions, and quite frankly he's looked very lost at times on rotations and help defense.

I doubt he ever gets to 265 but if he can play at 275 he will be just fine. The times we have seen him on the court playing he’s been in the 290-300 range. Right now he looks about 285 so he’s on the right track.

Just going to drop his very FIRST NBA game here:
LINK
Limited minutes - we lost but everything from 2:00 on is just sorcery. Reminder - his first game.
Equitable with Gleason blocked punt as a point in time in NOLA sports history when you just knew the Answer had arrived.
I am 100% in for this - buckle the Fuk up and lets Dance.

Zero. Will never finish a full season and will be out of the league after 6 years
