Trade back or Caleb downs please!

Proven secondary guys are so key.
this guy is a STUD. can play day 1

he can play all over the secondary and has high iq for the game.

i wouldnt be mad with this pick whatsoever

Personally think Downs is the Malcolm Jenkins pick in this draft..

May not turn into Ed Reed but his floor is a reliable secondary player who makes smart plays and few mistakes

I certainly understand the desire to go defense at 8. With that said, this board's excitement now is based on shough turning into a promising qb. Since shough took over, he's been good, but the D has been unbelievable. I think a difference maker on offense is more important than defense.

No lol. While it has impressed in certain aspects, it has not been “unbelievable”. Pump the breaks bro. It’s as if y’all lose track of the bad offenses we played. This front 6/7 needs help to get us to the level where we can compete with the big boys. We need a NT, LB and replacement for Taylor at CB.

9th in total def
23rd in total off

Maybe you disagree with my adjective, but the point remains: the def side was better. Shough needs help.

Nobody is trading up to #8 to draft a QB.
Plus...Loomis isn't trading down

I like to trade down. I might select RB or TE if available.

I think it's more a result of more of the top 10 prospects being on the defensive side than anything else. The Saints aren't taking a QB. So that really leaves WR and OL as the only two offensive positions they likely will consider at 8. Many may suspect there is more value there on the defensive side...which yes, the Saints may not needs as much help on right now, but they will very soon with some aging players and guys who may not be on the team long term.

IMO, this draft really is BPA. A pick at virtually any position (except QB) could be justified.

There's a RB that's potentially there too, and a huge hole on the roster at that position.

I agree! And when you can draft that way, it really does help the team overall! That’s how and where you build the best depth with free agency where you fill holes or can’t pass up superstars.

The Caleb Downs talk is honestly comical. Is he the best overall football player in the draft? Probably, he doesn’t have many if any flaws. With that being said name one Safety that is a true game changer in the nfl today? Kyle Hamilton is probably the best safety in the game and he doesn’t move the needle that much. Safeties are just not a position you draft high. Def not at 8 and def not on a team like ours. The saints need another passrusher (Faulk is the guy i want because we need a 5 tech and he would be a really good investment or Bain). But this team needs offensive weapons so badly. Our receiving corps has zero depth and one true legit wr. I like Vele and think he’s a really good number 3 option. They need a guard or maybe 2 and possibly even a new center and they have to get a receiver and another tight end.

There is a 0% chance we trade down. Pretty much every player at the top of the board is an absolute need for us. With most experts saying this is a top-heavy draft with only 11-13 true first-round grades, we are absolutely picking at 8

Take Downs, Bailey or Bain. One will be there. It’s that simple.

If we get a stud pass rusher he will make everyone else look better.

This is honestly one of the few times I'm fine with Loomis "Loomising" and getting a solid OLmen to protect Shough with the first round, if available.

No way we take a safety there. It’s either love or Francis mauigoa guard from Miami.

Yawn. We will start next season with twice as much WR depth and talent than last season. This is so overblown.

We traded for (2) of our top 4 WR's THIS SEASON. We will draft a 3rd WR THIS draft. And we are about to pay Olave THIS offseason.

Do we need to add a TE? Yes. Do we need to add OL? Yes. Do we need to add anything more than a WR4/5 this offseason between FA/ and the group that ended the season? No.

Why is everyone so keen on ignoring the upgrades we made this season at WR? Yeah they all didn't play together this year, that doesn't mean they just don't exist.

4 top 10 rushing rb are not on their original team.
7 of the 17 1k yard rushers are not on their original team.

Love may be a good prospect, but is he that good of a prospect?
